Hey guys i have a question about the transponder in the R34 GTR keys, my car has a aftermarket immobiliser installed and the original remote is not used, i only have 1 key and 1 remote for the car and i want to get a 2nd key/remote. What i want to know is the transponder in the key, is that still used when an aftermarket immobiliser is installed? and where can i get a 2nd remote for it. and am i better off just going and getting a new immobiliser/alarm put in that i have all the codes/info for and spares.

No idea sorry mate..

i will be a smart ass and say mine came with 2 keys... and 2 remotes!

edit: i cant remeber but it might be only series two 34rs with the chips in them? could be way off here though...

well i have the key sorted out, Justjap have the original key with transponder in it for $130 so now i just need to get nissan to code it, wish me luck...

http://justjap.com/store/product.php?productid=18061&cat=&page=1

My alarm cost me 300 bucks with immobilizer and alarm. And I fit it myself, got a "Nissan" key for 25 bucks and got that cut.

2 keys, 2 remotes, 3 points immobilizer which is enough for me through justcar. Could add a 4th too I think.

Hmm, well my key has a transponder in it apparently so, genuine R34 GTR key with transponder $130 and $180 for nissan at hornsby to code it for me, so quite expensive just to get a spare key. Can anyone confirm the transponder in the GTR keys? i rly have NFI about it.

Might get flamed for this, but unfortunately the thing with alarms/immoblisers is that "smart" thieves usually know how to bypass them quite easily. They do however, delay the thief from stealing the car...and they help with getting cheaper insurance. But thats about it.

I'm going to be getting 3 kill switches installed (in non-obvious locations). So if a thief bypasses the immobilisor, he wont know where the switches are and the car won't start.

Only thing you're left vulnerable to with kill switches is getting towed. Highly recommend them if you're worried about your car getting knocked off.

So guys, i am thinking the Ferry idea is out.................

We can still do old pac and Galston Gorge but we would need to turn around at some point and come back.

We could always aim to have Brekkie at Galston itself and then head on the return trip, there is 2 cafe's from what i can see, i am thinking that Rosies would be the go as there is a Franklins carpark accross the road and we probably wont fit in the carpark at Rosies so we could use the one at the shops, also looks like parking if you turn left at the roundabout but thats only a minor detail. Although the Ferry Rd was fun i am worried about the low cars and the GTR's

Having had a good look at those pics I still think it is doable with the timbers but if no one is keen than that's cool

Of course if we do go ahead than I should say we will take all the care in the world but if a car gets damaged not our problem

yeh im not worried about it getting stolen, im more worried about losing my keys and not being able to get into the car and i want an alarm for POM.

So looks like my local lock smith may be able to code the key for me for $130 just have to take the key around and see if they can clone it if they can ezy done on the new key from justjap, if that fails its Nissan at hornsby for $180.

The immobiliser looks like i have to have an aus standard one installed for justcar to be ok with it does not mention how many points it needs to be that i can see anywhere. so i think ill look at mongoose and Viper see what i can find for that.

You really shouldn't worry about anyone stealing your car

For a start it's only a S15 and secondly by the time you are done posting pics of it all over the Internet it will be so well know and famous that no self respecting thief (or any thief for that matter) would been seen dead in it let alone wanting to be know as the dumb f**k that stole your car in the first place.

Hell they would probably end up with pink eye from changing gears

Consider yourself flamed

If you work on the car its not likely to start anyway!

You get flamed for everything you type!

EDIT - Holy shit Martin NAILED IT!

The guys on the ferry seemed pretty keen to help out if needed.... I think we will set the route both ways and decide on the day judging by the cars that attend!

Mine does

Also goes off if you open the boot or bonnet without disarming as well

Yeh mine flash also and if i leave the car idle and dont turn it on or anything after about 30 seconds it locks everything out, the car wont start dash wont light up i have to hit the unlock button again and then it will come to life.

Tank just take all the oem shit out and get the same as me. 300 bucks and I could probably fit it if you trust me and buy me a case. Or pay a professional 200 bucks.

So much easier And cheaper

FYI -

R34 GTR wuith aftermarket immoboliser in most cases still runs NATS which means you need to get the transponder programmed before the key will start the car.

R34 GT-T with aftermarket immoboliser does not need programming and you can get a key cut and it will just turn and start.

    • Welcome to Skyline ownership. Yes, it is entirely possible parts websites get things wrong. There's a whole world of inaccuracies out there when it comes to R34 stuff (and probably 33 and 32). Lots of things that are 'just bolt on, entirely interchangable' aren't. Even between S1 and S2 R34's. Yes they have a GTT item supposedly being 296mm. This is incorrect. I would call whoever you got them from and return them and let them know the GTT actually uses 310mm rotors. Depending on where you got them from your experience and success will obviously vary.
    • Hi...a bit a "development" on the brakes. I spoke to the guys where i get brakes from...and they are saying that 296mm EBC are for R34 GT-T. I then went to their site: https://www.ebcbrakes.com/vehicle/uk-row/NISSAN/Skyline (R34)/ and search for my car(R34 GT 1998 - it has GTT brakes) and it show me this USR1229 number and they are rly 296mm rotors... So now iam rly confused... The rotors i have now on the car are 310mm asi shown... So where is the problem? Does the whole EBC got it wrong or my calipers are just...idk know what?
    • Oh What the hell, I used to get a "are you sure you want to reply, this thread is XX months old" message. Maybe a software update remove that. My bad.
    • This is a recipe for disaster* Note: Disaster is relative. The thing that often gets lost in threads like this is what is considered acceptable poke and compromise between what one person considers 'good' looks and what someone else does. The quoted specs would sit absurdly outside the guards with the spacers mentioned and need  REALLY thin tyres and a LOT of camber AND rolling the guards to fit. Some people love this. Some people consider this a ruined car. One thing is for certain though, rolling the guards is pretty much mandatory for any 'good' fitment (of either variety). It is often the difference between any fitment remotely close to the guards. "Not to mention the rears were like a mm from hitting the coilovers." I have a question though - This spec is VERY close to what I was planning to buy relative to the inboard suspension - I have an offset measuring tool on the way to confirm it. When you say "like a mm" do you mean literally 1mm? Or 2mm? Cause that's enough clearance for me in the rear :p I actually found the more limiting factor ISNT the coilover but the actual suspension arms. Did you take a look at how close those were?
    • @GTSBoy yeah sorry i know thery are known for colors bud those DBA are too in colors 🙂 Green will be good enough for me
