Hey guys keep ur eyes out for a set of Garrett GT2860R -5 for me, looking to pay around $1500 for a 2nd hand set looks like thats the market price from past sales on the forums.

just msg a guy about some -7s see how that goes, gona have to call apon the bank of thy father for this purchase if i get them lol.

-5s will be useless unless you upgrade alot of other things to go with it, you wont be able to run much boost with stock fuel system etc... and will just be laggier

Lag is for fags! lol

But if he is planning to upgrade the other components later and run more powers you could handle it for a while....... I purchased my car with a high flow and 199kw and checked a set of injectors in and it jumped to 250kw!

Yeah, lag isnt good! Response is where its at!

I had a little drive of one of my mates mates S13 in Sydney several months ago..

it had a forged motor, rollcage, bucket seat, t28bb hi flow etc. Had about 240rwkw from memory and it was stripped out so the car weighed bugger all.

it was that moment I realised I f**king love twin plate clutches, only because of that cool rattle noise they make when the clutch is pushed in. Only thing that is a bit of pain in the arse is getting off the mark, but gear changes are so crisp and smooth!

Anyway the guy took me for a drive to show how it goes when its opened up, anyway thrown back in my seat by 3000rpm and started going sideways by 4500rpm and safe to say I shit my pants. Felt a lot faster and less safe than the 370rwkw R34 GTR single turbo Ive been passenger in (which completely opened up at around 5500rpm)

Nope, its dead quiet but with 4600lb clamp it takes whatever is thrown at it so far........ The rattling is amusing for around 3 seconds!

thats the plan, for now im broke, ill have to borrow some cash from my dad till next pay (monthly pay) to buy them and have them put in, but if i can get them cheap then ill be saving like 2k. Im going to be putting a haltech platinum pro in it with injectors. So i figure if the turbos are rooted then i may as well spend a bit more and get a good set of -7/-5 for now depending on what i can find max out my injectors now and just deal with it till i get the ECU/injectors. I can get a set of stock GTR turbos for like $400 but ill find on on saturday whats going on with her.

Snapped a picture of my catback....the TIG welding looks awesome

HKS says its 93Db (I assume the point where exhaust noise is measured)....so I'm not sure if thats with stock cat/stock dump pipe.

I've got a CES Racing front/dump and getting a 200 cell hi flow cat....

so with the addition of those and a few months of the exhaust burning in.... I assume it will be a lot louder than that!

Don't know how strict cops are about exhaust noise....but with that operation hammer thing, I assume Id get raped by the police!

as per previous post you may need some of this for hammer.

and as per the -5's the guy a msg today is selling -7s, i think they may suit what i want better then the -5s also

Don't doubt it, especially considering I'm only 20 so I dont think I will be treated very nicely at all.

Btw, who has seen this article.....

    • Lets say I wanted to buy this, specifically for this purpose. How do I actually perform the function. Can I still buy a Consult-1? Am I about to be burned by the fact my car is a 2000 model Series 2 R34 and thus will be some stupid other system? Do I just need this -> https://obd2australia.com.au/product/nissan-consult-14-pin-to-usb-ddl-diagnostic-interface-with-ftdi-ft232r-chip/ And with what software?
    • That's probably OK. That's a face to face compression joint between two surfaces with the clamping load provided by those bolts. So.... it's unlikely that the bolts will end up feeling that load in shear, unless the clamping surfaces are not large enough, bolts not got enough tension on them, etc etc to prevent the two faces from moving wrt each other. Which... I would hope the designers have considered, seeing as it's probably one of the most important things the upright has to do apart from resist collapsing in its own right. But yes, it would definitely be worth asking them what their safety factor on that part of the design was. I tend to think that the casting, being a casting, is not necessarily the strongest bit of material in the world. It's about an inch square, and when you think about the loads that are being put into it, you have to wonder what safety factor the Nissan boys (and every other OEM engineer who has designed all the millions of other uprights that look essentially the same) used to account for defective casting, aging, severe impacts on the wheel, etc etc.
    • Those bolts would be orders of magnitude stronger that cast aluminium though.  And its mainly clamping force, not shear they are dealing with?
    • Except all that twisting force that is breaking a cast piece, appears to be going through 4 bolts in the picture Johnny posted of the BryPar one...
    • The smart approach is to use the gearbox loom from the manual car. Makes it a lot easier - just plugs into the switches on the box and plugs into the main loom up near the fusebox. Then you only need to deal with bypassing the inhibit switch. The other approach requires you to use the wiring diagram to identify those wires by colour and location, perhaps even indulging in a little multimeter action to trace them end to end to make sure, and then.... you will have the answers you need. The R34 wiring diagram is available on-line (no, I do not have a link to it myself - I would have to do a search if I wasn't able to go to the copy I have at home).
