yep yep :P

Haha! Hey you are an Evo owner, convince Alex to do a build thread of his weapon!!! We were discussing it today and he is being a chicken!

Congrats mate

Does this mean more stuff happening for us

Yep it should be business as usual, we all do the same in terms of choosing cruises and events etc, all I gotta do is take the info and work out how to make official ;) I'll learn...

I do need your assistance with MG car club tho as I think some Ringwood events are in order... Although Jarrad in his go kart will kick my ass this time lol

Oh good, I'll bring my stock daily and rip skids for you in return lolz

Just bought a gunmetal r33 gts-t. What are the cops like in Newcastle towards imports? Before this I owned a GQ patrol with a 5" lift, 33" tyres and 4.2 turbo diesel with no mufflers among other illegal mods and they never even looked at it... Have never been pulled over in my life and I have owned some sus cars in the past so not sure what to expect...

Its pretty standard looking on the outside but has a highmount gt35r among other stuff under the hood (am planning on swapping to lowmount gt3076r and standard airbox sometime).

Also, can anyone recommend good workshops or tuners around this area

G'day man, Welcome to SAU Newcastle ;)

Cops up here are NOT nice towards imports and i do NOT recommend you doing laps of the foreshore! Obviously a high mount 35r means some serious mods have been done which generally indicates bad news IF you get pulled up!

Keep it clean, keep the BOV plumbed back, No GATE  and keep it stock like mine :whistling:

Workshops and tuners? Well DVS JEZ is our local go to guy and is also an Exec for SAU NSW!

If you plan to get out on cruises and events, grab an entry for SAU NSW and become a funded member, you get a sweet members pack AND priority into events and SAU tech nights

Anything you need, just ask :action-smiley-069:

Is the foreshore the area near the Brewery? I moved here in February and still need to get some knowledge on the area, I live near the uni/ go to uni and dont really go driving around much atm except to work at Kotara and back and sometimes around darby/bar beach (I drive around in a peugeot 306 gti6 as a daily).

I only ever seem to see the highway patrol cars on the main highways and usually late at night, never seen one during the day, maybe im just lucky?

Im going to be swapping to a lowmount gt3076r, stock airbox, and black piping to try and keep it under wraps. It has a greddy plenum too which I am thinking about swapping back to standard with return flow piping but thatll come after the turbo change. Standard r33 type M bodykit and buddy club p1s atm.

Havnt actually got the car yet, looked at it, mechanic check and bought it the other day and am driving down to pick it up on thursday.

As for the gate, its currently plumbed in but I want to get it flanged for a screamer pipe when I swap manifold/turbo. Are cops really going to crawl under the car and go hunting for a tiny little pipe somewhere?

p.s. I have seen your thread 34gtt and your videos and it sounds absolutely mental, cant wait to go to a 3076r and pick up some more response as well as that sweet sound from the anti surge housing. Do you get picked on often with your 34 'looking' as stock as it is? Ever been checked under the hood by the HWP?

Heres a few pics of the car and engine bay atm:

Exterior wise I dont mind it atm. It has an aftermarket rear bar which will be swapped with standard. Looking at getting a roof spoiler, ducktail wing as well as an Hasemi sport front lip.

Wheels will be changed eventually. I really like XD9s and Ce28n but theyr out of my budget alot. Most likely be going 18x9.5 +22 Varrstoen 3.3.1 in gloss black (ce28n replica)

Miss that R31, if anyone has seen it floating around ide love to hear how its going.. Pretty sure the buyer said he was from Newcastle or Sydney when I sold it in 2011. Have since owned a 5 Speed Xr6 falcon, 4.2 turbo diesel patrol and currently the Peugeot 306 gti6. Looking forward to enjoying the r33

Yep that is the area mate! Nice spot but be careful!

Dont change too much as it will cost you a fortune! Leave the plenum and cooler and just make sure its able to get engineered.

Sounds good, link to the actual car?

Mine is screamer for track and plumb back for the street! If you get caught with it out by the cops or EPA its game over for the car and you will be lucky to have it registered again!

Mine doesnt sound like that any more, when it spools you cant tell its not stock as i now have a different style 3076. I did it partially because it was just screaming "Defect me"..... Yes it looks stock but its still a modified car!

No, no checks as yet as i havent given them an excuse, dont plan too either.

Impressive looking beast! Engine bay looks the goods, i can see some tasty parts on there!!! I would be leaving that setup but doing the basics like boxing in that air filter and plumbing the catch can into the intake etc and enjoying the car as is, you can step back to a 3082 or 3076 if you want more response... Or put a smaller rear housing on the 35r!

I was considering boxing it all up and leaving it how it is but I think ill just stick to the plans ive had for a long time. Was originally going to buy a more stock example but after looking at 3 and each had problems here and there I had a look at this one. It was in really good condition and mechanic check only picked up an oil leak from the cam covers so i will be doing the gaskets and half moons on them.

I wont be that much out of pocket by swapping manifold / turbo / airbox. I will resell all the old bits which should cover half the cost. A quick search I found the 3076r for $1499. Will be getting a low mount brae manifold for $1100 and will probs just get the current dump cut up and modified to suit. Will re use wastegate (turbosmart 45mm) and see if the lines are re-usable too. Time shall tell

Well you are on the right path :) You can get a new 3076 for slightly less i think! Ill find out for you if you want!

Good choice going with Brentons manifold! I would have but i found the 6Boost years ago and its served me well so far!

If you are looking to go down that path wait and see Marks results (AngryRBGTX) as he has gone twin scroll but single gate low mount 3076/3037 and will have the same whistle i did but will be really responsive!

The car looks like its setup OK so far ;)

are Varrstoen a brother of rota? im looking for rims of that nature myself but if there in that size there at damn near brand new price.

EDIT: but I don't want something cheap and nasty and they will be coping a bloody hiding!

    • As discussed in the previous post, the bushes in the 110 needed replacing. I took this opportunity to replace the castor bushes, the front lower control arm, lower the car and get the alignment dialled in with new tyres. I took it down to Alignment Motorsports on the GC to get this work done and also get more out of the Shockworks as I felt like I wasn't getting the full use out of them.  To cut a very long story short, it ended up being the case the passenger side castor arm wouldn't accept the brand new bush as the sleeve had worn badly enough to the point you could push the new bush in by hand and completely through. Trying a pair of TRD bushes didn't fix the issue either (I had originally gone with Hardrace bushes). We needed to urgently source another castor arm, and thankfully this was sourced and the guys at the shop worked on my car until 7pm on a Saturday to get everything done. The car rides a lot nicer now with the suspension dialled in properly. Lowered the car a little as well to suit the lower profile front tyres, and just bring the car down generally. Eternally thankful for the guys down at the shop to get the car sorted, we both pulled big favours from our contacts to get it done on the Saturday.  Also plugged in the new Stedi foglights into the S15, and even from a quick test in the garage I'm keen to see how they look out on the road. I had some concerns about the length of the LED body and whether it'd fit in the foglight housing but it's fine.  I've got a small window coming up next month where I'll likely get a little paint work done on the 110 to remove the rear wing, add a boot wing and roof wing, get the side skirt fixed up and colour match the little panel on the tail lights so that I can install some badges that I've kept in storage. I'm also tempted to put in a new pair of headlights on the 110.  Until then, here's some more pictures from Easter this year.
    • I would put a fuel pressure gauge between the filter and the fuel rail, see if it's maintaining good fuel pressure at idle going up to the point when it stalls. Do you see any strange behavior in commanded fuel leading up to the point when it stalls? You might have to start going through the service manual and doing a long list of sensor tests if it's not the fuel system for whatever reason.
    • Hi,  Just joined the forum so I could share my "fix" of this problem. Might be of use to someone. Had the same hunting at idle issue on my V36 with VQ35HR engine after swapping the engine because the original one got overheated.  While changing the engine I made the mistake of cleaning the throttle bodies and tried all the tricks i could find to do a throttle relearn with no luck. Gave in and took it to a shop and they couldn't sort it. Then took it to my local Nissan dealership and they couldn't get it to idle properly. They said I'd need to replace the throttle bodies and the ecu probably costing more than the car is worth. So I had the idea of replacing the carbon I cleaned out with a thin layer of super glue and it's back to normal idle now. Bit rough but saved the car from the wreckers 🤣
    • After my last update, I went ahead with cleaning and restoring the entire fuel system. This included removing the tank and cleaning it with the Beyond Balistics solution, power washing it multiple times, drying it thoroughly, rinsing with IPA, drying again with heat gun and compressed air. Also, cleaning out the lines, fuel rail, and replacing the fuel pump with an OEM-style one. During the cleaning process, I replaced several hoses - including the breather hose on the fuel tank, which turned out to be the cause of the earlier fuel leak. This is what the old fuel filter looked like: Fuel tank before cleaning: Dirty Fuel Tank.mp4   Fuel tank after cleaning (some staining remains): Clean Fuel Tank.mp4 Both the OEM 270cc and new DeatschWerks 550cc injectors were cleaned professionally by a shop. Before reassembling everything, I tested the fuel flow by running the pump output into a container at the fuel filter location - flow looked good. I then fitted the new fuel filter and reassembled the rest of the system. Fuel Flow Test.mp4 Test 1 - 550cc injectors Ran the new fuel pump with its supplied diagonal strainer (different from OEM’s flat strainer) and my 550cc injectors using the same resized-injector map I had successfully used before. At first, it idled roughly and stalled when I applied throttle. Checked the spark plugs and found that they were fouled with carbon (likely from the earlier overly rich running when the injectors were clogged). After cleaning the plugs, the car started fine. However, it would only idle for 30–60 seconds before stalling, and while driving it would feel like a “fuel cut” after a few seconds - though it wouldn’t fully stall. Test 2 – Strainer swap Suspecting the diagonal strainer might not be reaching the tank bottom, I swapped it for the original flat strainer and filled the tank with ~45L of fuel. The issue persisted exactly the same. Test 3 – OEM injectors To eliminate tuning variables, I reinstalled the OEM 270cc injectors and reverted to the original map. Cleaned the spark plugs again just in-case. The stalling and “fuel cut” still remained.   At this stage, I suspect an intermittent power or connection fault at the fuel pump hanger, caused during the cleaning process. This has led me to look into getting Frenchy’s fuel hanger and replacing the unit entirely. TL;DR: Cleaned and restored the fuel system (tank, lines, rail, pump). Tested 550cc injectors with the same resized-injector map as before, but the car stalls at idle and experiences what feels like “fuel cut” after a few seconds of driving. Swapped back to OEM injectors with original map to rule out tuning, but the issue persists. Now suspecting an intermittent power or connection fault at the fuel pump hanger, possibly cause by the cleaning process.
