Official event: Shepparton overnight stay and DECA fun day cheer squad cruise

Recommended Posts

I still come if someone out there wants to enter me as a second driver!! Come on - you know you want too!!

Im soo bummed my car isnt available :D Was looking forwards to this for ages.

But Im a crappy spectator (well Im a crappy driver as well but hey!) so I couldnt bring myself to go all that way just to watch.

Because I don't even have the ute at the moment - its in getting some touch up work so I can sell it.

And the wife wont let me use her car - and Gerlad just sold his car last Friday.

So the gods are against me.

Hey Andrew, I can let you use my Gemini if you like.. It's registered. 2 Litre, cam, head work exhust, RPM clutch lowered, 17" rims. No LSD, but I could swap the diff to a locked one if you wanna give me a hand. Goes ok, but nothing compared to the line. We might even swap on the day.

Let me know ASAP.

I have had a change of plans in regards to accomodation. Was staying at a friends in Merchison, but he has other stuff on now. Does anyone have a spare bed in a room?

Otherwise, James can you give me the number of this hotel so I can try book myself in..

Ta, Chris.

Chris / Jarrod,

Guys - thanks both for the offers and at this stage I am still keen to come up. The tough part is that it seems now there is a slim possibility my car may be ready on time. Although Im not holding my breath, but if toyota have gear sets in stock then Im in luck. But I won't know if my car is going to be ready until late in the week so especially to you Chris I couldn't say yes right now - although the idea of taking the gemini has some strange appeal I must admit! lol.

But one way or another it looks like I will come up anyways so if still need to beg for a drive I can do so at the Shep Pub on Sat night. :D

Chris - got your PM, rang hotel - all good.

Spoke to Al - he has the details of the hotel also.

I still at work - waiting for marketing dept to ruin my weekend again... but at this stage i still see y'all this arvo.

    • If you take the top half of the intake off you can unbolt the flap off the shaft and leave the shaft in there blocking the hole. Then you can remove the little vacuum canister off from under the manifold and get a spare vacuum line to run to the ECU. I can take some photos of it later. Probably best to get the vacuum source to the ECU sorted first though. Mine all worked mint with the base map from the GTT an I've pretty much let the closed loop sort the fueling and took 1 degree out of the whole timing map.
    • This IS something you also have to configure in Haltech (or at least I did in the past when going from onboard-to-ECU map sensor and an external MAP sensor in haltech land).
    • I'm hoping it's something as simple as the ECU is looking for an external MAP sensor, but he is trying to use the onboard MAP sensor.
    • You won't need to do that if your happy to learn to tune it yourself. You 100% do not need to do that. It is not part of the learning process. It's not like driving on track and 'finding the limit by stepping over the limit'. You should not ever accidently blow up an engine and you should have setup the ECU's engine protection to save you from yourself while you are learning anyway. Plenty of us have tuned their own cars, myself included. We still come here for advice/guidance/new ideas etc.  What have you been doing so far to learn how to tune?
    • Put the ECU's MAP line in your mouth. Blow as hard as you can. You should be able to see about 10 kPa, maybe 15 kPa positive pressure. Suck on it. You should be able to generate a decent vacuum to about the same level also. Note that this is only ~2 psi either way. If the MAP is reading -5 psi all the time, ignition on, engine running or not, driving around or not, then it is severely f**ked. Also, you SHOULD NOT BE DRIVING IT WITHOUT A LOAD REFERENCE. You will break the engine. Badly.
