Hey Guys,

After much searching and debate. I am now the proud owner of my first skyline.

It is not the one as my avatar shows( I will post a pic as my avatar soon).

I have bought a White R33 GTS-T July 94 model. STOCK AS A ROCK.

The car shows 56K on the clock. Whether this is true I don't know. Documentation supports it. The car was presented immaculately and the overall condition of the car supports the suggestion of 56000km. I have since had it checked by a profeesional and a couple of likely lads that also support the idea that this could be true.

So now the aftermarket journey begins. I have bought a Hybrid FMIC Cooler kit,

I have installed a Turbosmart Vee Port BOV and K&N High Flow filter. I have ordered a 3" Turbo back exhaust with a high flow cat from X-Force in mild steel with a stainless dump pipe (got this for $1000 delivered great deal give-em a call)

Getting my 3 point immobilser installed on tuesday with keyless entry and getting a custom parcel tray for my kenwood 6*9's (no other speaker for me).

Gotta see how much cash I got left to get and electronic boost controller to take advantage fo the new gear (occasionally of course) any suggestions would be greatfully recieved or if anyone knows of any bargains please post a message!

Then thats it for a while. This is my work car so I get to drive it every day (F*&k yeah) Thats if my missus doesn't want to use it (she loves driving it already).

Just finally The guys I bought it off, Northshore Prestige cars at Balgowlah in Sydney were an absolute pleasure to deal with.

I had searched everywhere for a decent car. Been to heaps of car yards and all of the cars I seen and or test drove were either totally dogdy or not what they were being sold as. One place it took four guys to navigate this liner out the driveway it was so slammed and they tore up the front bar doing it. The car said 60000 k's on but it looked and drove like a hundred and fifty and they wanted 26k for it.

The gear knob was just coming off in my hand. LOL dodgy as.

Anyhow i would thoroughly recommend Northshore Prestige as a stop to make on your journey to search for a decent skyline. They are also willing to throw in stuff like exhausts and wheels that they take off the cars to compliance them.

Give Ben a call and he will sort you out. A+++.

I will post some pics soon. Keep on Skylinin'.

Cheers,

J-Flash

Congrats mate,

I think I know the one, its the one on trading post all the time aye? Looks like a sweet ride. Im also getting a white r33, but through Geoff @ Prestige, but the one im getting comes with a few mods. Just got to wait for it to arrive off tha boat, go through compliance and all that blah... HeHe..

Anywayz, how much did you end up paying for it? I know that one was advertised at $19,000, so just curious?

Hey, congratulations on your new toy mate..

I got my skyline like a month ago too, It was pretty stock i guess, apart from the exhaust, turbo timer and K & N air filter.

Its a Black 96' S2 R33. Actually bought it privately, said 61000 kms on the clock, looked genuine to me as the car is in top nick but people will say otherwise, im just not sure to be honest.I m actually planning to keep it as it is, well i do want to get a Blow off valve but im just looking around for the one best suited for the car, dont want something that makes too much noise.

Well all the best with it dude.

Cheers!

Hey Mr_G,

I paid $18,800 for but they through in the 17" advan 3 spoke rims (they look phat) with new bridgestone potenzas' on them 17"*9" on back and 17"*8" on front (not cheap tyres dude) and a 2.5" exhaust system (which I will replace on wednesday. so I f you know someone who wants a exhaust for cheap let me know.

and also an original intercooler (R33).

I didn't want and body kits and stuff for now.

cheers let me know when ya get yours!!

Cheers,

J-Flash

dont get a bov, will just cause stalling problems and annoying stuff. stick with the factory bov

Hey paulr33,

I will keep an eye on it. It has not posed any probs so far. I will see when I get my frount mount on and boost controller and jack it up a bit and wind it out.

Did notice a slight adjustment when idling but no stalling or backfiring.

Cheers dude!!

congrats, welcome to the club. enjoy your ride. 6x9's suck :D

Don't diss my kenwoods dude!!

They have seen me through the humiliation of driving my Colt for the last three years. although I did blow the first set. Had them running through my amp.

And I like it loud.

I will see how they go in the R33 and let ya know!

Cheers!!

He is referring to problems that are introduced when a vent to atmosphere BOV is installed. Things like bad idling, backfiring and stalling are caused due to the airflow meter not getting the recirculated air that it is expecting when the standard BOV is installed.

Some people have these problems and some don't. If unsure then there is a BOV from GFB called the Stealth FX that allows you to adjust how much air is vented and how much goes back into the system.

a lot of aftermarket bovs if not installed and setup properly will cause your car to stall as they atmospehere vent the pressure, the airflow meter expects this airflow but it doesnt get it so it adds corresponding fuel to match that airflow however the air of all a sudden goes out to the atmosphere it overfuells and the car stalls.

the stock bov is plumb back into the piping whereas aftermarket goes to atmosphere.

Paulr33 and morlock, i can definately say that after hearing that im not going to bother with a BOV......I dont want unecessary pain in the ass things to deal with, i enjoy driving the skyline and it does already have a factory bov as u guys said so thats doin the job....Do u think it would use up more fuel if u install a bov?

I know my car gives me roughly 520 kms on a full tank.....city and long trips put together...

what do u guys get on a tank or on average??

I do put optimax only as im assuming u fellas would!!

260kms on a full tank of optimax. series II 33 gtst manual. your fuel economy is awesome.

my car is stock except for pod filter. just runs mega rich and i do city driving. i dont think an aftermarket bov will affect your fuel usage much at all. save your money on the bov and buy a boost controller or something else that is actually useful

Hey, sounds alright J-Flash, have fun with your new ride, mines still in Japan waiting to get on the boat. Mine features 17" Volk challenge wheels, 3.5inch turbo back exhaust, standard rims, turbo timer, kenwood double din deck, m spec kit, and a few other bits n pieces.

To me, first thing to buy for a skyline, other than insurance, is a PHAT ALARM! Should keep that in mind before you go modding the beast, hehe.

    • Haha, i kow right? Could have bought so many cars for the same amount of money (or less) but driving Unicorn gives you at least +1mln to style 😅. Like wise man said "life's to short to drink cheap wine and drive boring cars" 😉
    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
