The lights in question on IM are RHD, which are legal in Australia.

Why buy LHD? You don't want to waste money, yet for the lower upfront cost you want to take the risk that you wont get defected for headlights.

If you do go down this route and get LHD lights, and you do get defected for it, it will cost you more in the long run.

If you are going to do something, do it right the first time.

I'm just worried about the bad output, i like to be able to see where i'm going at night. These G35 projectors look good and are very good quality, i don't know what i prefer i'd rather stock lights than aftermarket and i'm not in love with the look of the lights on IM so yeah. Still deciding.

As am i, i'll only purchase them if i can't find any good quality RHD lights. Might actually end up buying the aftermarket CCFL xenon's and replace the bulbs for 8000k or something.

Don't get 8000K HID's (if thats what you meant)

it will by far be the worst decision you ever make in lighting. I drove next to a subaru WRX with what looked like 10,000K bulbs not to long ago (looked purple) and I could see the vision they were providing him, and it wasnt great at all.

I have 4300K in both low and high beam. The high beam kit I bought is much better then the cheaper low beam kit I got, but both provide a crisp light output. Its hard to explain the higher Kelvin lights, they light up the road, but they light it up dull-ly?

from what I've heard 5500K is about the highest you want to go. This is the stage just before your light output starts getting blue as well, just a nice white light.

My high beam kit was $180 with a relay harness I'm pretty sure, and is the kit I would buy again. They heat up about 3 times faster then my cheap low beam kit

The term 'xenon' can be misleading. You can get xenon halogens, and HIDs also use xenon gas. So you are better off defining them as halogens or HID.

I don't think you will be unhappy with LHD headlights. It will just be other drivers who will be unhappy. And you run the risk of a defect.

The human eye is less sensitive to the shorter wavelength light, that is why the higher colour temp. Lights can appear dull.

what I want to know is what do they do with the stock HID's at compliance... chuck em' in the bin or sell on ebay? There has gotta be another market there that we could possibly buy back what is rightfully ours right?

Now that is a can of worms, as the HID kit is not "legal" it is removed from the car, therefore you have no right to the parts.

I have an aftermarket set of projectors on my sedan with an aftermarket HID kit (6000K) and the road is lit up very well.

    • I thought that might be the case, thats what I'll start saving for. Thanks for the info
    • Ps i found the below forum and it seems to be the same scenario Im dealing with. Going to check my ECU coolant temp wire tomorrow    From NICOclub forum: s1 RB25det flooding at start up Thu Apr 11, 2013 7:23 am I am completely lost on this. Car ran perfectly fine when I parked it at the end of the year. I took the engine out and painted the engine bay, and put a fuel cell with an inline walbro 255 instead of the in tank unit I had last year. After reinstalling everything, the engine floods when the fuel pump primes. if i pull the fuel pump fuse it'll start, and as soon as I put the fuse back in it starts running ridiculously rich. I checked the tps voltage, and its fine. Cleaned the maf as it had some dust from sitting on a shelf all winter, fuel pressure is correct while running, but wont fire until there is less than 5psi in the lines. The fuel lines are run correctly. I have found a few threads with the same problem but no actual explanation of what fixed it, the threads just ended. Any help would be appreciated. I found the problem though. There was a break in one of the ecu coolant temp sensor wires. Once it was repaired it fired right up with no problems. I would have never thought a non working coolant temp sensor would have caused such an issue.
    • Hi sorry late reply I didnt get a chance to take any pics (my mechanics on the other side of the city) but the plugs were fouled from being too rich. I noticed the MAF wasn't genuine, so I replaced it with a genuine green label unit. I also swapped in a different ignitor, but the issue remains. I've narrowed it down a bit now: - If I unplug and reconnect the fuel lines and install fresh spark plugs, the car starts right up and runs perfectly. Took it around the block with no issues - As soon as I shut it off and try to restart, it won't start again - Fuel pressure while cranking is steady around 40 psi, injectors have good spray, return line is clear, and the FPR vacuum is working. It just seems like it's getting flooded after the first start I unplugged coolant sensors to see if its related to ECU flooding but that didnt make a difference. Im thinking its related to this because this issue only started happening after fixing coolant leaks and replacing the bottom part of the stock manifolds coolant pipe. My mechanic took off the inlet to get to get to do these repairs. My mechanics actually just an old mate who's retired now so ill be taking it to a different mechanic who i know has exp with RBs to see if they find anything. If you have any ideas please send em lll give it a try. Ive tried other things like swapping the injectors, fuel rail, different fuel pressure regs, different ignitor, spark plugs, comp test and MAF but the same issue persists.
