I have tried to search but didn't find the thread I was after.

There was a guy on here who had just fitted an intercoolerguy hyrid to his R33gts25t i think with some good results maybe 20kw?

I already have air filter, boost and twin dump 3 inch turbo to tip. So am thinking about getting a FMIC next. I have heard good things about

ARE and they are close to me also. I have confidence that theyll do a good job but from what I can see I will have to spend about $2k.

Is this necessary. Eg the Intercoolerguy has his hybrid delivered for $1150. Myabe for my purposes this is ample. Im not after 11 sec 1/4, more after a nice handling street car with good response and daily driveability. Lergo can't see me going beyond 250rwkw.

So do people have good reports on this hybrid IC. Will it be ample for up to 250rwkw with supporting mods.

Thinking of getting that delivered for $1150 and getting ARE to fit it for $280 (although thats to fit there kit). Will they run into any probs installing the hybrid?

Dude, me and a mate have fitted 2 ARE FMIC kits both to R33's they are a piece of piss..directly bolt upto the front, only fabrication is the 80mm hole drilled underneath the washer bottle. which is done in a variety of ways and that way it leaves u with a nice hole to run ur CAI pipe near the pod filter.

if you need around 250rwkw get a stock r33 or r34 gtr intercooler. ive been told they are good for upto 300rwkw. should cost around $600 ish not including piping and fitting. probably a better cost effective setup vs a brand new front mount kit

Yea but then we get into 2nd hand could be a dodgy cooler territory. If there was some guarantee I wouldnt hesitate esp cos of price.

Im guessing that a stock GTR cooler would also not have the same cooling potential as a ARE or intercoolerguy new one.

Better to have it and not need it, than to need it but not have it. You've got me thinking though.

well thats not always true. having a bigger intercooler that you need doesn't mean its better. fit a truck intercooler and watch how long it takes to flow it enough. you wont loose power getting a bigger one but it will take longer to flow the air thus more lag is added to the system.

get a suitable size for your kw target, not point getting bigger just becasuse its bigger. a 2nd hand gtr cooler should be fine, specially from an r34. it will flow better then a bigger front mount for around 250rwkw or thereabouts, it will probably be better suited for that kw target. sydneykid showed me a thread on the comparsions somewhere, search for it. i would stick with the stock gtr cooler (from 33 or 34) until my target was over 300rwkw or thereabouts

when looking at buying a i/c i found that paying for a jap_spec kit e.g apexi, trust, hks was a better opinion to Hybird type i/c

A japspec kit can be had from around 1.3k, this inc piping but not shipping.

was quote For Hyber $600 for i/c and $600 for piping so it is around the same price

if you are paying 600 for a hybrid in perth you are getting ripped... go see xspeed , works , etc ... no way are they 600... piping makes it about 1100 all up... add shipping to a trust apex hks kit and it wont be close to that... and like i said for 250 rwkw you wont need a "real" brand cooler.

    • Haha, i kow right? Could have bought so many cars for the same amount of money (or less) but driving Unicorn gives you at least +1mln to style 😅. Like wise man said "life's to short to drink cheap wine and drive boring cars" 😉
    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
