hi guys,

i think my o2 sensor is dead. my fuel economy sucks (250k's ish on a full tank) and my apexi pen timer doesn't read the o2 sensor value at all. my fuel economy has always been like this so i thought it was normal but reading some threads and doing some searching and it appears my o2 sensor is dead. i wasnt sure if the apexi pen timer was working properly cos it has never read the o2 value always displays "---" but ive checked the wring and it seems fine.

also when i had a dyno run on the dyno bbq day i got 141rwkw and it was running very rich and had some black smoke puff out

does anyone know where to get a new / 2nd hand o2 sensor from? how much?

any help would be great, thanks

Yea you can buy new ones for like ummmm around 150 i think but dont quote me! You can get second hand ones easily from workshops around the place usually like 80 or so not that expensive just make sure its ok before you buy it!

dunno but the 33 ones have 3 wires, im looking at my old one right now, I got a second hand one for like $80 from a workshop up here i know...check around you'll find one easy, they have heaps of them lying around!

nah its cool, ive already got a new o2 sensor just a bitch to fit and ive got really shit tools here. will organise with a mechanic to fit it for me and swap for a new radiator

hi all, have gotten the o2 sensor fitted and done. the ford el one did it fine. the apexi timer now shows the o2 value and it fluctates from 0.30 to 0.20 and 0.10 is this correct? upon de-acceration it goes to 0.02 and 0.01. however if i goto a/f it shows "---" still. am i missing something?

will update when i check my fuel consumption

the light for o2 goes from green to orange to red mainly at green when idle and orange when midrange accel and occasionally a spot of red if i stick it. ive only seen the highest about 0.40 shouldn't it be up near 0.60 ? the range as far as i know was 1.00 to 0.00 correct?

0.50 would be midrrange?

as in not lean and not rich

To get the ECU to power up, you just need to provide power to the ECCS relay, and have the other power feeds that come in from the top left of the wiring diagram (wrt the ECU) that give perma power to the fuel pump relay, the ECU itself, etc etc, all connected. When you put power on all these it will just come to life. It's pretty clear from the diagram what needs to happen. Just follow the lines from the 12V + supply stuff in the top left over towards the ECU. I've even posted snips of such diagrams (not for vanilla 25, I think for Neo and 26) to various threads here in the last few months, talking about what it takes to get the fuel pump and FPCM up and going. Search these up and they will help get you started on doing the same with the vanilla 25 diagram. Hell, for all I know, I've done the same with that one in years past and have forgotten.
    • Yep...so unless someone posts up the answer you will need to probe from the ECU connector to the dash plug with a multi meter in continuity mode to trace the wires.  Note the ECU has multiple - and + (and across different key settings - Battery, IGN and Start) and most likely the power is fed from the connector(s) that is normally near the left hand headlight.
    • Thanks Duncan, I am actually just trying to get the Rb turning and running with the RB25DET S2 original loom itself  I am just trying to get it going outside the body and not thinking about the S15 or trying to match anything to the S15 loom at all I am only trying to see if anyone has done this and what pin they found to be the ignition trigger and ECU+/- on the dash connector, that's about it. Thanks
    • Hi Guys, Does anyone know any aftermarket part numbers for a starter motor to suit the VQ25DET? I can find lots of alternative part number for the VQ35DE, which I assume would fit, but there is a lot of conflicting information out there. Thanks..
    • I don't understand how this hasn't boiled down to - Upgrade the turbo when you have everything required. ECU, injectors, fuel pump, turbo, etc. Do it all at once.  If you don't have everything required, just enjoy the car as it is and keep saving up your pennies.
