I had originally planned to purchase a few more items this month, but unfortunately the realities of life stepped in and, well....BILLS!!

But I have a little bit of budget left over and looking at buying the following, so am currently looking around:

1. either GT2530's or N1's

2. Coilovers

3. Power FC or F-con Pro

4. Adjustable cam gears

I was looking at an exhaust system but out of budget for now. Oh and wheels of course as they are stockies. Looking at a set of BBS LM's.

My car is stock (R33 GT-R). Coilovers are a must as 3 struts are leaking as found in the last service.

I have been looking on ebay etc. but if anyone has anything that fits my shopping list and they are looking to sell shoot me a message.

Does anyone have any idea how much this all may cost to get installed once I buy it?

Cheers.

Few holes in there. HKs gt2530s for 400+kws or n1/2860-7 for a touch over 300

A turbo swap on a GTR won't be cheap and will probably eat up all of your budget

Don't get an f-con no one can tune then in Canberra (only hks pro dealers can and closest one is in Sydney or Brisbane)

What suspension are you looking at getting? You get what uyou pay for

Bigger turbos will need bigger injectors, there is no point getting the turbos fitted and the ecu tuned only to have to retune again when you want more than the 280rwkws or do the standard ones will give, a bigger fuel pump is a must have and factor in z32 or nismo afm's they run out of resolution at around 300rwkws

Also factor in a new good quality front pipe, plus might as well change the dump pipes while the turbos are out, a 3 -1/2" exhaust or better, you might also find the ignition system isn't up to the task.

The way I would do it,

Ecu, front pipes and cat back, suspension, fuel pump and mantinance eg new ignition coils

Have it tuned At STANDARD boost on the stock turbos to make sure they live a while, whilst saving for the new turbos injectors, afm's etc

Hmmm...I have about 4-5k all up at this point.

Looking at a good condition second hand pair of HKS coilovers from a member on here.

How much is it to swap the turbo's?

Ahk. I can't say I have ever heard any thing good about the HKS suspension

The BC coilovers whilst cheap are meant to be quite good and for all accounts are the same as the GReddy type S stuff, plus they will be brand new

So your 5kbudget will get you those, get some new white line sway bars too

Will leave you 3k, so a nice set of 75mm front pipes and a 3 -1/2" exhaust will be a little over a grand

A 2nd hand pfc will be ~1000 and should leave you enough for a tune

Or leave the ecu and get some wheels :)

To buy and fit the turbos you will have no budget left or very little

So without upgrading the turbo's and doing the exhaust system and ecu what sort of extra performance would I be looking at?

Its currently making 222awkw and its stock except boost restrictor removed and boost set at 10psi and CASA has been spun.

I guess my main reason for wanting to do the turbo's is because of the ceramic standard turbo's and concern if one blows etc. Not sure if I can bump the boost up more than it currently is?

Also can anyone recommend a good complete exhaust system and where to buy them here in Canberra?

If you are buying garrett turbos or bc suspension, get in touch with street to track. Has the best prices I've come across

Exactly the link I was going to post

Spoke to him yesterday and he quoted $1135 for a set for my 33 and my neighbours 34 posted to same address.

Prices are even better if the AUS dollar gets better

So I think this is what I have decided on:

  • Front pipe
  • Cat back
  • Apexi Power FC
  • Adjustable cam gears
  • Coilovers

This will leave me about $1400 left over. Anyone have any idea whether this will pay for the install of these items?

Maybe we could do a 3 way buy and get the price down even more?

Guessing you live in the ACT so we could get all 3 sets posted to the one address..

Let me know if your interested I will be ordering mine in the next month

Shipping is quick through him as well.

But I doubt you will get them any cheaper getting them all posted to the same address. The coilovers and the box they come in weighs 45lbs and they are shipped via ups so it's expensive regardless.

    • Nah that is not actually a lot. Just painting my GTR frontend and the little bits to make sideskirts/nismo flare pieces work correctly/fit on the sedan/mount up correctly came to about $7000. Is it a lot? Sure. None of this is economical. Economy would be shelling the car and buying a 2010 Corolla to commute in. The perspective of all of this is different.
    • I have the 2025 build re003s’ on my 06 XT Forester Turbo and I quite rate them for street wet and dry
    • I don't see any issues here. I've been saying all along this is a big job, the price reflects that.  When the car comes back perfect I'm sure it will feel like money well spent.
    • Remember, take original quote. Double it. Then add a bit more. It's how any project goes.
    • So, I started this repair and got as far as "fixing" the holes with some fibreglass. God all those years working on boats came back quickly. I decided I'd reach out to some rust guys just to see what they would say about it. I came across a guy about 40 mins away and went to see him. He said the windscreen needs to come out, that there might be some more bits around the windscreen and he'd quote them at the time. But his quote was $300 to remove and replace windscreen and $3k for the damage he can see. He said he could respray the roof for $1200 and the bonnet for another $800 (somebody has previously rattle canned it, its horrendous). This is $5300 + any small additional bits. It's a lot, I get that and the name of one of my fave youtube channels 'Not Economically Viable' comes to mind.  I'm not being financially rational, but I've taken him up on the quote. He's opening a new shop in November with more room, so we're waiting for that. I'll leave the currently missing headliner out until then. I'm looking forward to it being fixed and having the paint looking nice again (lots of clear coat issues on the roof too). / flame suit on.
