Hey guys

Thinking of buying a new set of Varrsteon 2.2.1(te37 replicas) for my 34gt sometime this week.

Thinking of going 18 x 9.5 +22 front

and 18 x 9.5 +15 at the rears.

First question, would +12 at the rear look too agressive? as in, would they stick out of the guards too much? Would i have to roll guards?

Second question, what size tyres do you guys recommend?

Any help would be appreciated cos i'm pretty new to this stuff, thanks :)

yes you will probably have to roll the guards and yeah they will stick out a bit. will look wicked though. probably need camber arms in the rear to get good tyre wear/flush fit.

would go 235/40/18 tyres all round

Thanks for the reply mate :)

I have Tein SS coilys, the timid amount of camber that they create won't be enough for +12 ayee?

Should i go with +15's to be safe you reckon?

i dont mind rolling guards, but camber arms are a bit dear :(

^^^^ Not really because the rim isnt as wide as the rear.

Thanks for replying mate, i took the safe option and ordered +30 all round with 10.5's at the rear and 9.5's at the front.

I'll put up pictures when they are fitted :)

won't the front look more aggressive than the rear in that case?

No - 1 inch is 25.4mm, so there will be 13mm extra either side, and the difference in offset is only 8mm so the rears will stick out 5mm more than the fronts.

Hmm, 5mm isn't much at all ayee, it wont be noticeable enough :/

I wouldnt be too worried about looks - if it doesn't fit properly you will hate it regardless of how it looks. Not that i'm saying anything about fit, because I dont know.

I ordered 10.5's with 255 for the rear, 9.5's with 235's for the front. Still awaiting shipment, paid a month ago :(

I'll put up pictures as soon as they're fitted

    • The final part arrived today to un-clampify and simplify the intake Who would have though a 1/2" hose stainless bulkhead fitting designed for below waterline bilge pumps would be what I needed Test fit on a 3" offcut I had laying around to see if it would work, and it worked a treat All going well the intake will be on its "final version" tomorrow

    • Welcome to SAU, what are you looking at buying?
    • I checked the injectors again (1 and 2, since they’re easiest to access) to make sure they weren’t clogged. Even though the entire fuel system had been cleaned, I wanted to be certain. Everything looked clean, so I reinstalled and connected everything. When I started the car to confirm everything was okay, it immediately revved up high, so I shut it off straight away. I checked to see if I’d missed a vacuum hose or something, but everything was connected. On the second attempt, the car ran without the high idle, but I noticed a distinct “compressed air” sound coming from the engine bay. Tracing the sound, I pushed injector #6 forward slightly and the noise stopped — it turned out it wasn’t seated properly, despite the fuel rail being bolted down. While holding it in place, the car idled steadily without stalling and ran for over 5 minutes. At this point, I pulled all six injectors out just in case I hadn’t seated them correctly or dirt had gotten onto the O-rings. Unfortunately, I discovered that I had damaged 3 out of 6 injectors (the OEM 270cc ones) during installation. So yes, this was my fault. Since only the pintle caps were damaged, I’ve ordered a Fuel Injector Service Kit from NZEFI to refurbish them. In the meantime, I reinstalled my new injectors – the car now idles fine for over 15 minutes without stalling. I have not attempted to drive it so far. It’s not perfect yet, as it hesitates when the throttle is pressed, but it’s a big improvement. Unplugging the IACV with the new injectors idles at around 800rpm, even with the IACV screw tightened fully. But this is probably due to tune.
