OIR32
hi fellas, my 26 was running like a bag today, ive only had it about 2 months so havent driven it a heap...anyway it has been sitting for a couple of weeks but never done it before. im thinking it could be shagged plugs or coil packs but really have no idea ! i was playing with the 2wd mode by turning the car off and rolling and turning her backk on.. dunno if that could effect it in anyway... what it was doin was running fine one minute and coughing and farting the other, i cant remember if i was into it or not...was like hitting rev limiter at like 3000rpm and not going above that if you rev it. also wouldnt idle. it was playing up as i rolled into the servo, switched it off got some fuel, started it back up and ran fine. if anyine can give me some info that would be awesome. thanks Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/408516-32-gtr-running-roughsometimes/ Share on other sites
iplen
Coil packs would be my first guess, pull the cover off the coils and let it idle at night, you will probably see the sparks coming off the coils out onto the cam covers. If not possibly ignition timing moving due to damage on the front of exhaust cam. Try the coils first IMO, but there are others who know better Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/408516-32-gtr-running-roughsometimes/#findComment-6517873 Share on other sites

OIR32
I just checked the coil packs in pitch black. Couldn't see any spark at all, also took it for a spin and was goin hard. Moodles2
How much fuel is left in the tank when this happens, 1/4 by any chance? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/408516-32-gtr-running-roughsometimes/#findComment-6518420 Share on other sites
OIR32
i dont think so, it done it before and after i got fuel mate, it just seems electrical to me, not like an old carby car where they cough and fart. like when i was trying to rev it and it was going from 2500rpm to 3500 rpm like a slow rev limiter. but it didnt just do it between that rev range ran like a bag lower than that too. im going for a drive tomorrow incase it was shit or dirty fuel but still seems sus/electrical to mee.. thanks! iplen
I don't think it will be timing moving based on that, but to check it, put a plug lead between #1 plug and coil, check the timing then turn it off and start it check it again. See if changes drastically. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/408516-32-gtr-running-roughsometimes/#findComment-6519870 Share on other sites

pipster11
grab some brake cleaner and a soldering iron! hit the element with the brake cleaner and then solder up the bad joints! maybe do the soldering first tho, brake cleaner is quite volatile Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/408516-32-gtr-running-roughsometimes/#findComment-6520129 Share on other sites

OIR32
hi mate, well i put my hand over the (air to atmosphere) pipe and the car changed revs at idle.. and i stripped the bov in 2 seconds and found it wasnt sealing when shut, plunger was shagged so i clogged up the hole and she ran awesome Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/408516-32-gtr-running-roughsometimes/#findComment-6529770 Share on other sites
Lain-63
Out of fuel. Bloke I bought it off said the gauge wasnt quite right. Empty around 1/4 tank. Bov is shagged too Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/408516-32-gtr-running-roughsometimes/#findComment-6544892 Share on other sites
Moodles2
How much fuel is left in the tank when this happens, 1/4 by any chance? I thought so, empty around 1/4 tank means you have a aftermarket pump in there which isnt mounted properly (either a bosch 040/044 or a walbro 255) Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/408516-32-gtr-running-roughsometimes/#findComment-6545331 Share on other sites
