Hey guys, hopefully somebody can help me, Ive tried on another forum but might be a bit more more knowledge here.

I recently had my s2 RB25DET and Apexi SAFCII wired into my VL commodore... the problem is that i need to do the initial set up for the safcII.. ive read thru the manuals i have here but its no use to me, tried google but there is to many mixed answers there, can somebody help me do the initial set up so that i can drive it around on stock boost for now? (no corrections/tuning or anything.. just set it up so the car runs using stock ecu/ % / etc) till i can get it on the rollers with a wideband.

Also can anybody recommend a place in brisbane that would do a good job of tuning it for me? (closer to the sunshine coast if possible) {mods are ; safc2, fmic, pod, cai, 3" zorst, hi flo cat, boost tee set 12psi, walbro 255, drift fuel press reg, platinum plugs gapped}

any help would be much appreciated.

cheers - mic

I had the basic version of the SAFC on my RB25DET and don't know what the SAFC2 looks like but it should be obvious how to set it to zero which is where you would start. Select the car type and sensor type (hot wire) and set it to zero.

no..it does not appear to be as simple as that but cheers anyway. have to set knock, tps, In:/out: lo%/hi% etc etc, was hoping somebody is familiar with the unit or done it recently. really need a "step by step" everybody I talk to / read says different things and its confusing as hell.

Thanks bitsushiti, Ive had a look there,( I have the actual manual with me) it just doesnt explain a whole lot for me.., it has been used breifly in another car.. so basicly it needs to be reset and "initial setup" performed again,..problems im having is:

- im a noob kent with this unit... ive read the manual.. think i have it down.. go to do it and im a moron at using the thing. i just wanna get this initial set up done so the car can get a bit of a shakedown and be driven to where its getting tuned (2hr drive from my house) .. way to exxy on a towie and i want to know nothing is leaking / give it a good run & change lubes etc before it cops a flogging on the rollers as the engine has ran for about 10 miniutes in the last 12 months... its been a long winded build..

im hoping i can get this set up on my own but if anyone lives on the sunshine coast and is capable of doing it i am willing to pay fuel money + carton or $$ or car parts etc etc.

kiwirs4t - thats probly true, but if you were going for a tune imo wouldnt you want to know your car is running right to start with? i mean it would be much more expensive to tow it down there and then waste hours & $$ on the dyno fixing little bugs.

Quite right.

I had another look around, apparently you can reset to factory defaults by going to the main menu, selecting 'etc' followed by 'init' or 'initialise'. Note this is for the first SAFC, not sure if same applies for SAFC2...

will try that this weekend. cheers

did that, car seems to run fine, but it is displaying a correction... like 2.6% at idle and goes up with the revs.. would have thought that it should be 0% as there should be no tune/correction yet?, also didnt run it long enough to get it hot to set the knock so.. knock displays at 0 , is that ok for now?

    • There's restrictor pills in the stock boost control hoses. That's how they set the amount that was bled off and hence the "high" boost setting. The usual mod in the day was to remove it and send the "high" boost setting up to about 14 psi.
    • Thanks Duncan, that's the best info I've read. Furthermore after learning about the PCM programming side controlling the factory boost solenoid, the purpose of the solenoid is to "bleed" boost when pin 25 is earthed, thus allowing spring pressure in the wastegate actuator to overcome diaphragm boost pressure, thus closing or reducing the position of the wastegate flap creating more boost as the turbo is able to spin faster. It's pretty cool to see a designated Pill to do exactly this, would have liked to have seen it with a tiny filter over the end for those moments in vacuum.  The constant bleed pill has now been removed completely from the system and solenoid boost control has been restored once again.   Case closed 😂
    • The wideband reading is meaningless if it's not running. Why are you using shitty old sidefeeds on any engine, let alone a Neo? What manifold and fuel rail are you using to achieve that? Beyond that, can't help you with AEM stuff as I've never been their ECU/CAS combo.
    • Manual boost controllers (where a little of the boost was bled off) were quite common back in the day, because they were cheap and easy. Generally they had a manual adjustment screw rather than being fixed like yours. Down side is they always bleed boost, not just when you want them to so an electronic boost controller that uses a solenoid will have less lag.
    • Hello , im new here and i have A31 home build  RB25det neo stock eng / turbo  aem ems 2 blue connector  aem 3.5 map aem cas disk aem wideband connected to ecu  355 lph pump 550 nismo yellow injectors side feed aftermarket regulator  and won’t start with base aem tuner basic tune eventually flipped cas 180 degree so it triggers on correct stroke not in exhaust cycle  Now it won’t start Wideband reads 10 and 11 at lowest fuel setting  and will share calibrations soon for aem tuner i think something is wrong in aem tuner    please if you have any information, am very grateful
