After performing some more Temporary Dunwood Mechanics on Jeremy's Rosie34, I installed my New OEM Coilpacks and sanded some paint off in the boot to make my Fuel Pumps Earth Stronger.

If your hubs are slightly out, which is often the case on an older car, your new rotors will be out of line too.

If this happens, get the rotors machined on the hub, mark it so if you ever take it off you can put it on the same way.

Now my rotors are matched to the hubs, as my hubs arent perfect, still quite good but not perfect.

Yes, sometimes you have to machine new rotors!

Made side panels for the radiator intake area.

Just made from corflute for a template, they seem to work ok, bottom is still open, thats next.

Top has the Greddy one on.

Finished installing rotors and got my car ready for dickson and the up coming cruises, fractured my arm and wrist on the bike afterwards so now have to wait 4 months to drive

Wow, that is seriously unfortunate :(

Had a go at repairing the $25 guards, but i think its a waste of time.

Theres a thin layer of fibreglass in there somewhere under the putty.

And the putty is all old and cracking. ill use them for testing the spraygun.

Bonnett was painted in something that looked like fake vinyl? Thick crap whatever it was.

Couldnt sand it, too soft and clogged the paper, so paint stripper carefully used and washed off.

Then sand sand sand. Getting there. The primer underneath is nice and hard.

Bits for wheels and deep dish for correct position when the race seat is in.

No fake centrecaps to be found, so i had to fork out for the real ones. >_<

No rear tyres yet, i have to wait. So sunday hillclimbs on the street wheels/tyres.

Now i have a guide to handling, i was thinking i should try a suspension tweak to try and get less drift.

This Sunday?

Dayum! I would come n watch again but Pie Cruise. :(

why do people ditch turbo timers these days. i realised they have been associated with the fag hectic factor but thats not what they were made for. I reckon they keep your turbo well specially if your in a rush.

If not for the DEFECT factor I would have left it for the odd occasion where it would be useful.

But even in a hurry I'm not going to be boosting all the way up the street into the driveway.

I don't think they were made for road cars, hectic factor just took them there.

besides, if I go for a track day or something I can easily reconnect it.

1. Illegal ! (no one in control of the running vehicle)

A vehicle sitting stationary with the engine running (Idle) get's warmer and stays warmer for longer. Although does cool your Turbo due to oil and water still circulating.

It's better 2 minutes out to drive pedestrian and let it cool down. Forced airflow continues where as when stationary ....

Like athletes - warm up and cool down. It will prolong the life of ALL your vehicles major organs.

Turbo timer is good as it circulates the oil and water to the Turbo if you seriously don't have time and drive it VERY HARD (Race conditions) right up to your destination and then shut it off immediately.

Turbo's start glowing between 350 to 500 degree's. If it's not glowing then your probably ok

    • After using a protractor for an actually accurate assessment of what is required,  and by NOT using my uncalibrated eyeball I worked out I need a 25° silicone bend from the TB ro the MAF, but, my choice was either a 30° or a 23° (23° is a weird spec), so I grabbed the 23° one from Raceworks I also grabbed 1mtr of 3" straight from Just Jap, I needed 350mm, but they only had 300mm, or 1mtr lengths....meh Also ordered a 1/2" hose bulkhead fitting from fleabay, this has a smoothish mushroom looking head (they are designed for below the water line of boats) that will fit inside the bend, the hose bit and threaded bit looks to long, but nothing that a hacksaw cannot fix if required, the hose will then just get jamed on the threaded bit up to the retaining nut Fingers crossed and the unsightly amount of hose clamps will be reduced down to 4 once all the parts arrive
    • Oil change does not trigger code 21. Code 21 is for coilpacks primary side connection. You can try to clear the code with a battery disconnect, hold down the brake pedal to drain capacitors through the brake lights with the ignition on for 10-15 seconds before you reconnect the battery. I have seen R35 coil conversion permanently cause this code with no ill effects so it might be the resistance it wants to see isn't quite right on one or more coilpacks. Could be inside the ECU, could be the harness, could be a coil. You can test it all if you want or just ignore until the car actually starts misfiring.
    • I forgot you have a Nistune ECU. Use Nistune to do all the tests I mentioned instead of faffing with 30+ year old electrical connectors. You can read MAF volts off that too, there are reference values in the service manual to tell you roughly what it should be in different conditions.
    • No. I think it might be the AFM. Hence the use of the terms "swaptronics", which implies the use of swapping out electronics for the purpose of diagnosis. It's about the only way to prove that a small/niggling/whatever problem with an AFM or a CAS or similar is actually caused by that AFM/CAS/whatever. A known good item swapped in that still gives the same problem is likely to be caused somewhere else. They're all the same. Spraying AFMs with cleaner is an each way bet between cleaning it and f**king it.
    • Oh wow! This might actually work amazingly. Do you know the ratio of the diff? I was told the only thing you need to make sure of is if the front & rear diff ratios are the same. Ours is a 4.083 Thanks!
