I have been doing a shit load of research on doing the swap but i haven't even thought if it will actually fit into my RHD car.. i found a post on www.my350z.com and they mentioned "Importing gearbox from USA. Sharif, had a good deal on some CD009 gearboxes (latest revision) (c.£1,000 excluding delivery and VAT/duty, at the previous favourable exchange rate); but these were incompatable with RHD cars. The gearboxes are RHD/LHD specific"

Does anyone have some insight on this? I can't seem to find any other information on the internet and Coz from ConceptZperformance hasn't replied to my email yet asking him if it will actually fit.. I am purchasing the gearbox clutch and flywheel today so a quick reply would be great.

thank you.

Edit: Ok so Coz replied to my email just as i hit post on here, he says quote

"oh yea, we ship them there all the time"

I am still a little worried, surely he wouldn't just say that to make a $3200 sale would he?

Yeah see that's what i thought, it's just annoying reading posts like that when people aren't correct. Coz replied to a 2nd email saying that they use the exact same gearbox for LHD and RHD and that the guy from England has no idea what he's saying.

I think i've got enough confidence now to transfer Coz a lot of money.

It did take me a month to earn $4000 but hey i guess your right Alex.

I can't do that, my bank is conveniently only located in NSW.. i've got a form i've sent to Coz that i need him to fill out the bank details then send it back then i send that to my bank and we're good to go. I really need to open an account with a local bank..

Use Pennytell (mayebe one l) - no transfer fees, you can use direct debit so no fees at all or your CC for faster and more protection but 2%

I used them many times when seller doesnt have paypal or accept CC..

Im also looking at CD009 one day too.. what shipping method and price you getting?

Damn, too late now i've just sent the paperwork off to my bank. Thanks though i will use that for future transactions.

I got a killer deal off Coz at ConceptZperformance. I purchased a brand new CD009 gearbox with all the bits included like chromoly pivot ball ss clutch lines and nismo bushings. I also purchased a Southbend clutch & flywheel combo (Southbend is made by Exedy so it's good quality)

And i was going to buy some amsoil gearbox & diff oil off him but he couldn't source it so i got it for Brisbane pretty cheap.

Anyway, for everything it's exactly $3,144.00 shipped to my door. Shipping for everything was only $575 or something so i'm pretty pleased with that. Coz is also writing up a 2nd invoice to go with the package marked as a gearbox rebuild and valued at under $1000 so i don't get any import/tax fees!

My only thoughts is you might want to make the payment difficult to track if the seller is undervaluing it to avoid import duty.. last thing you want is customs to get suspicious, check your credit card records or bank records and find a payment to the seller for way over what was declared.. at least with a 3rd party involved, it would be harder to track down.

How would you get around this, do you mean transferring money from 2 different accounts? Yeah wouldn't be a bad idea, i'm guessing there is a substantial fine that goes along with avoiding import taxes? lol, Coz says he does it all the time and has no negative feedback but yeah.

The exporter is the one who fills out the customs declaration, so how could the importer be the one responsible for a false declaration? Especially since they won't even see the declaration until they have the item..

However, if customs find out the real value, the importer will be responsible for paying the appropriate duty/tax.

OzForex are a good alternative, when sending more than AUD$2000. If it's less than AUD$10,000 they charge a $15 transfer fee. Otherwise, $10,000+ attracts no transfer fee and their commission percentage is extremely competitive compared to the banks. More importantly, they make sure the recipient gets what you say you want to pay them. Banks can be a little difficult with that as they don't always factor in the receiving bank's charges when they take your money.

It's how I paid for my V36 back in November 2011. Couldn't be happier. If I ever decide to buy the GTM Supercharger kit, I won't be paying by credit card!

How is coz shipping it for $575? thats pretty good i think. If you sent with pennytel it would be harder to track as they sent the money via their bank not yours so trail ends there. but yeah remove that post :)

    • Thanks for doing that Duncan! Makes you a good person in my books. We don't get kangaroos or wombats here. But we have bats and it's similar. AFAIK it's often the mums with a baby attached that get hit because they drop lower when starting from a tree. If you hit an animal, check on it. https://www.ifaw.org/au/resources/wildlife-rescue-app An app to get the closest wildlife rescue contact.
    • My dream is also to have a proper hoist, but I don't think it will ever happen. My quickjack is probably as close as I'll ever get, it really is very good though.
    • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
    • BTW I measured the jack I have, it is 70mm at the saddle but you only have about 700 until it returns to 150mm high at the cylinder so it is good but no magic bullet.
