Recommended Budget For A P-Plate S13

I'm looking to get an S13 as my first P-Plate car, hopefully in about 2 months. I see a lot around for about 2.5k-3.5k.

I'm just wondering what is a decent price and the minimum I'd have to pay for a roadworthy AUTO S13 that's legal to drive, or for one that can easily be made legal with a little work?

I'm talking about something that would basically be a good purchase and wont instantly die, how cheap can i go?

What's a respectable mileage on an S13 for a P Plater?

Do they get targeted by police even if they're stock and have a quiet exhaust/muffler?

Anything else I really need to know before being serious about this purchase?

around 4k. I bought a trashed non turbo r32 for that much, and prior to that, ive been looking for non turbo s13's. They are more common so they go for around 3-5k but unfortunately most of them need heps of minor work.

Used to have an S13. The majority of them need heaps of minor work to get up and running right. Ever since the p plate restrictions came in, the prices went up. From memory, I got mine for $4k. Paint was hopeless but motor was in fairly good nick so it was a trade off.
