mysfit snow trip 2003

I guess it all depends how quickly the club gets goin...I hope we could all get together heaps earlier...maybe even next year?

Realistically, we have 6 months left of this year to get the club organised, and we really should have a national meet every year...so our first one could be next year

Too ambitious?? :)

hell, I'm just enthusiastic

I'm enthusiastic too Shell. Let's get the club started first and we'll throw together a committee with a rep from each state. How about we shoot for April or May. A bit colder in April so a long trip would be bearable by our cars.

shell, one of the main reasons that i proposed new zealand is that we can all get together as a national body and i think that it would be cheaper than trying to get everyones car to targa, especially for accomodation when there aren't that many hotels in tassie anyway.

i think the commitment level should be shared, i.e we all fly to nz

if we go tassie, then melbourne guys will love it while those of us that have to drive from qld or perth may not come because of time constraints driving there and back, perth guys are going to find it hard enough either way but flying would certainly make life a bit easier for them even though they may have to pay a bit more for travel. once we get to nz we can always split the costs of hire cars etc and designated driver responsibilities

guys and lovely ladies, i have been communicatiing with zsky from tassie and i am afraid that it would be impractical for us to travel tassie

there is no shell optimax or bp ultimate any where in the state, you can buy PULP at $1.60 a litre but you have to buy it direct from the local subaru dealer, although i think that would be piss funny, 40 odd skylines lined up in the scooby shop

so in my opinion, we should attack the kiwis instead, i am however, open to suggestion

believe me when i say that, birty's ass is not an experience any of you need to be exposed to(no pun intended) shell will back me up on this [/quote:1e8dd91775]

Well I dunno, Birty's ass was kinda cute :)

but in my sleep deprieved state, i could have been imagining it

meant to take a pic the second time (YES folks, he did it twice) but....unfortunately I have no photo evidence :x

um anyway, back on topic...I was thinking Rod, I'll be keen on the NZ thing, whether it was ski season or not....we would have heaps of fun either way. Where abouts are the ski fields?

here is a NZ map for anyone that might like a look:

hi shell, if you have a look at my original post there is a link to one of the deals that harvey world travel has to queenstown, which is reputed to be the best skiing in the southern hemisphere.

mind you, i guess we dont have to go in ski season but as i said before there are at least a few people on here who have never even seen snow.

Snow is that white stuff right ? I can just see it now, boarding down the side of a slope, everyone tuning for max performance, birty mooning the mountain side and landing flat on his ass resulting in frozen buttocks ...... Lets do it !!! and of course Shell, we'll need all the champa's we can muster to keep warm :!:

lol

goon is the best drink ever, however in the morning you dont feel so well

you can have heaps of fun with it too. you can:

1) play the good game-see how long you can scull it while lying on the floor

2) play good of fortune- attached to a clothes line spin it around and who ever the goon lands next to has to drink some, or

3) after a big night out use the goon bag as a pillow

Goon=Good

    • Welcome to SAU, what are you looking at buying?
    • I checked the injectors again (1 and 2, since they’re easiest to access) to make sure they weren’t clogged. Even though the entire fuel system had been cleaned, I wanted to be certain. Everything looked clean, so I reinstalled and connected everything. When I started the car to confirm everything was okay, it immediately revved up high, so I shut it off straight away. I checked to see if I’d missed a vacuum hose or something, but everything was connected. On the second attempt, the car ran without the high idle, but I noticed a distinct “compressed air” sound coming from the engine bay. Tracing the sound, I pushed injector #6 forward slightly and the noise stopped — it turned out it wasn’t seated properly, despite the fuel rail being bolted down. While holding it in place, the car idled steadily without stalling and ran for over 5 minutes. At this point, I pulled all six injectors out just in case I hadn’t seated them correctly or dirt had gotten onto the O-rings. Unfortunately, I discovered that I had damaged 3 out of 6 injectors (the OEM 270cc ones) during installation. So yes, this was my fault. Since only the pintle caps were damaged, I’ve ordered a Fuel Injector Service Kit from NZEFI to refurbish them. In the meantime, I reinstalled my new injectors – the car now idles fine for over 15 minutes without stalling. I have not attempted to drive it so far. It’s not perfect yet, as it hesitates when the throttle is pressed, but it’s a big improvement. Unplugging the IACV with the new injectors idles at around 800rpm, even with the IACV screw tightened fully. But this is probably due to tune.
    • I wanted to try and preserve the front bumper as long as possible, they're not cheap and are made to order in Japan. Taking inspiration from my previous K11 Micra build where I made an undertray for the Impul bumper, I did the same for this BN Sports bumper but a little slimmed down.  This time round I only made a 'skid plate' (if that's the correct wording/term) for just the bumper surface area, the Micra version covered the gap like an undertray. Starting off with a sheet of mild steel approx. 0.9mm thick 4ft x 2ft in size. I traced around the bumper, cut it out and cleaned the edges. Luckily I was able to get two halves from one piece of metal In the video I installed it as is, but I've since then I've removed it to spray and add a rubber edging trim. The rubber trim is suitable for 1-2mm and it's a really nice tight fit. The bolts had to be loosened due to the plates being too tight against the bumper, the trim wouldn't push on I used some stainless M6 flat headed bolts for a flusher finish (rather than hex heads poking down), I believe this style fastener is used for furniture too incase you struggle to source some. The corner's are a little wider, but this may be an advantage incase I get close to bumping it  The front grill got some attention, finally getting round to repairing it. Upon removal one fixing pulled itself out of the plastic frame, one side is M8 that fixes inside of the frame, where as the other side is M5. Not knowing I could get replacements, I cut down an M8 bolt, threaded it inside the frame along with a decent amount of JB Weld.  The mesh was replaced to match the bumper. One hole on the bonnet/hood had to be drilled out to 8mm to accommodate the new stud, once the glue had set it could be refitted. I think the reason the grill was double meshed was to hide the horn/bonnet latch (which makes sense) but I much prefer it matching the bumper Bumper refitted and it's looking much better IMO The Youtube video can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVZP35io9MA
