Hi Guys,

I bought a MY12 on Friday in Sydney and drove it home overnight to Qld. Gun Metal Grey colour with 3400km in showroom condition. I have already bought a Willall midpipe and will have that installed when I get my safety inspection done this week for Qld registration.

I had been searching for a black one for months but settled for this grey one.....great news is I reckon it's the best colour of all now :) I'm very impressed with the overall performance so far but looking to up the ante a bit of course!!! All I can say is that I LOVE that launch control lol !!!!

I owned a highly modded R33 a few years back but overall it was a bit of a horror story for me with carjackings and blown engines etc, so now looking for a fresh and positive new start to GTR ownership :)

I have a heap of newbie questions so hope you guys can be patient with me while I get a grasp on this new beast that I own!!!!

Mark.

Mark, looks fantastic.. I like the Gun Metal Grey, that and the Blue are my two favourite colours for the GTR.. Would have been fun having that Drive Back to stretch its legs.. I have family in Maleny who i visit regularly , might see you on the road around Sunshine Coast..

Cheers.. Mike..

I've only ever seen 1 R35 on the Sunshine Coast cruising down Hastings St but have 4 separate sightings out Maleny way. I travel out west through Maleny every Thursday and have seen 3 down in Landsborough and there was one in the main St in Maleny a few weeks back. It must be all the nice roads out that way!! I'm always up for a cruise too......

That was that the one on carsales in sydney. How much did you end up paying for it?

I paid 161k and just looked tonight and there's another listed in Vic.....same colour, same year, EXACTLY the same kms but is listed at 159.5k. Serves me right for getting back on Carsales after I already bought one lol.

I was actually negotiating with Suttons @ Chullora on the black my12 that's listed. It was listed at $165,900 and we were negotiating from there. I thought for sure I had it as they even took my cc for a deposit. Next thing I get a call and they tell me they are putting the price up!!! I checked that night and the ad had been updated....kms jumped from 3000 to 6000 and the price jumped all the way up to 172,900. No idea wtf is the go with that???? Anyway the very next day I was booking flights to Sydney to buy my grey one and now very happy that it worked out that way :)

    • Hope you aren't too sore after that one, might take a day or 2 to notice yet and I guess it is a loooooong drive home. On the bright side, tube frame front end is a thing at superlap, right?

    • The chart of front pressure to rear pressure (with one being on the x axis and the other being on the y axis) is not a straight line on a typical proportioning valve. At lower pressures there is a straight line with one slope, and at higher pressures that changes to a lower slope. That creates a bend in the line at that pressure, called the knee point. If you do not change the proportionng as the pressure gets higher, you will suffer excessive pressure (at one end of the car or the other, depending on which way you look at the proportioning action) and then get lockups at that end. The HFM BM57, from my memory of previous discussions, is based on the BM57 from a different car (to a Skyline), with a different requirement for the location of the knee point and the distribution of pressure front to rear, and so is not a good choice for an upgrade on a Skyline. Here's a couple of links to some old posts, one from here, one from elsewhere. A lot of it pertains to adjustable prop valves, but the idea is the same. There are plenty of discussions on here about this issue from al the many years of people wanting a cheap/accessible option. https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/ https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/
    • Yeah dunno why johhny posted that here with no context, just post on FB/insta bro where he put it up?  Laine had an off at T4 during Thurs prac, he's ok, car is less than perfect, they are done for the weekend, he can fill in the rest. Bando also binned it like 100m up the road.
    • I feel there must have been a FB/insta post and the weekend did not start well at all I hope everyone is all okay
