Well.. today it happened again.. My skyline got defected. However, this time i am totally outraged.

I was defected for something that was completely legal. I was defected for my blow off value not being re-circulative. In actual fact, i dont have a after market blow off value, i just have a pod filter which makes a "whooshing" sound. So i still have the out of the factory set up and the same set up that regency complianced when the car came into the damn Country!!

I was defected, without the "cunstable" even lifting my bonnet even after i told him thats how it comes out of the factory.

So, off to regency i go... AGAIN.... for full regency inspection.

Steve, I know you have a Regency Thread, so I will be sure to convey my experiences to you.

Im ticked off that i can be defected for:

(a) not even having a police man look under the bonnet to see if there was an after market blow off valve.

(B) even after i showed another police officer my legal re-circulative set up, i still have to go to regency.

Its like saying "you bashed this man and we know you didn't do it, but we are still going to prosecute you anyways, the Holden Hill Police Officers know my set up is legal, but are still sending me to regency knowing that the only thing on my defect notice is legal.

I also chatted with this officer who defected me and he stated to me, that there is a crack down on imports at the moment, the targets being anything that remotely sounds like a blow off value. Its not worth having a skyline anymore........

Erica thats no reason to go selling your car tho!

Give in and they win, i know it sucks i been done 6 times and i'm still here

But i was about to put my stock BOV back on and after this it sounds like it won't really matter, i honestly can't beleive how uneducated the police force is!

Any way i hope u pass it with ease, i'm sure you will.

BTW did he give your a "reason" for pulling u over?

Thanks dudes.

I went and saw the traffic sargeant last night at Holden Hill. He refused to even come and speak to me. So now, I am getting the Police Investigations Branch to investigate the matter, because even when i prove the legality of my defect they still wont remove it and they still send it to regency.

It happened in Holden Hill, i cant remember the name of the street. It was 10.00am in the morning. The traffic moron who pulled me over didn't even know what a pod filter was. Yeah, he might be able to hold a gun and point it at things, but if you dont know shit about cars, how can you possibly be fit to defect them?

That's low :)

A friend had a traffic sergeant come into his work the other day and he asked him about cops' general thoughts on imports. He basically said if they hear anything that sounds like a BOV then they'll pull you over.

Another friend backed this up by telling me that he also got defected for a stock BOV, he tried to tell the cop that it was factory and her comment was "no cars come with factory BOVs". These people need to be educated so that they actually know what they are looking for :)

SAPOL Knowlege towards the automotive industry is being improved. i can assure you.

is that becasue you are a cop or know someone who is?

I think it would take a great effort to educate all of the cops about what is and isn't legal - only problem is they couldn't teach them anything, becasue they always seem to make up the rules as they go along.

sorry to hear Erica, it beyond a joke now, import ownership is getting ridiclulous. Whats the point of owning such a car when the enjoyment of owning one is far outweighed by the fear of some low life fcucking cop on a power trip pulling you over - its total bullshit :)

Erica, really sorry to hear the crap you are going through. It doesnt surprise me, I have already been told by a copper (at holden hill) that any bov will get a defect.

Please, please, please go and see your local MP. this is a perfect example of why the rules need changing. Guilty until proven innocent, guilty even when they KNOW you are innocent. Guilty even though they dont have a clue.

Please do it - they are the only ones that can actually change things.

Sorry to hear Erica. Its getting beyond a joke.

I agree that owning an import is starting to become less of an enjoyment as i often wont take mine out for fear of being defected, and in my case they would be making one hell of a list so it spends alot more time in the shed than id prefer it too. Its pathetic the amount of bullshit reasons cops can give to defect you for without even knowing what they are talking about. We need to some how get Victorias rules brought over here which would give us all alot more freedom without having to worry about being defected for petty bullshit.

I wont be selling mine just to avoid getting defected, but i guess ill have to pick when i take it out and run the risk of getting caught. I think ill be laying low for the next few months til this current spree on imports calms down.

Sorry to hear Cheeky.

Try this. Person gets pulled over next to my servo that i work at. Police defects car for not having brake light. Wouldnt it make more sense just to make that person walk to my servo a full 15metres away, buy the stupid globe and fit it in front of them. Police officer drives off, person asks one of my staff to fix globe, took 5 minutes.

    • Seat of the pants assessment of the new intake: The car is way less "doughy" when hitting the loud pedal, especially off idle when stopped or in traffic, I did use a cheapo lazer thermal thingo to measure the temp around where the pod filter got its air, it was between 55 - 60°C, in saying this the car was shut off and not moving, so the OEM intake pipe was not supplying any fresh air to where the pod was when the car was at least moving A weird bonus was induction noise on the throttle in the cabin increased a bit,  I was worried that I was actually going to lose some of that induction noise I love so much, outside though, when I got the daughter to do a WOT drive by pass for me, the induction noise has increased alot when on the throttle, not quite ITB doort, but well up there I'm extremely happy with the results and have been exploring the country roads in the region  As for house mods: 1.New front fence is up and is awesome, it really upgraded how the joint looks from the street, and the added security is nice 2. Electricians have replace some interior lights, and with more lighting in the garage, a few new motion detecting lights out the front above the garage, front room, and at the front door, which I have already found heaps helpful coming and going, also now has fancy pants CCTV all round the house The only hold point for power though is the solar and batteries due to supply issues, although this will happen over the next few weeks 3. I have done a heap of landscaping out the front and I'm almost ready to do a new small retaining wall with some nice blocks to replace the brick and cemented in rocks around the raised garden beds cemented in river stone "was the fashion at the time" the house was built. I currently have a pallet of retaining wall blocks and 2 bulka bags of 20mm blue metal to replace the wood chip that is in the raised garden beds around the house 4. I now have 3 big raised garden beds for out the back to grow some vegetables, about 70cm high, 200cm long and 100cm wide 5. My 2 compost bins are already pretty full with brown, green and kitchen waste from the landscaping I'vedone so far, but they will probably take a few months to break down, so anything else that gets chopped, trimmed, and kitchen waste will just start filling the base of the raised garden beds to about 30cm before I start throwing 40cm of good compost, and stuff, for the vegetables to grow in, I'll need a few ton of compost and soil, but the local supplier can sent me bulka bags of the stuff Basically the logs, wood chips and a few strategically placed rocks for drainage, will give the beds some good organic materials down low to break down over time, and they will hold moisture during the warmer months to save the water in my big arse water tank if we don't get alot of rain So, all in all, the car and house mods are going well, and I'm really enjoying being retired, I sleep in too 0700 and slowly plod around inside until I feel like actually doing anything, and only work in the yard for as long as want, which has actually been alot over the last few weeks,  although when you look at it, it seems that not a huge amount of work has been done,  until I look at the before I started the work pics Happy days and good times indeed
    • hahaha yeah. Plan is to get side skirts and probably just rear pods. But going to do them one-by-one. I've got a set that I really like from RHDJapen, but that one isn't shipped to AU. So need to find someone who can get it for me
