hey there guys. i was thinking of selling my r33 in a private sale but am not sure how to go about doing it. could anyone run me by a list? i've got a few concerns

1) the prospective buyer's gona want to test drive it. what's stopping him from crashing my car during the test drive and getting away with it?

2) i have to go to vic roads to transfer ownership or something, rite? does that mean i have to include a rwc as well?

also, i know that car conditioning is impt, but around how much would a 86000kms '93 r33 series 1 turbo manual with a hks bov, apexi air filter, type m body, n greddy turbo timer go for now?

thanks in advance for your input

Basically, IMO, if they take it for a test drive you go with them. If you don't like their driving, tell them and if they crash it, they pay for it.... If they refuse, go to the police and take them to court.... Sure there are a lot of A#%EHOLES out there that like to make it hard but i don't think you'll have any troubles there man.... good luck with the sale...

Cheers,

Dave.

I have always asked for their liscence and hold onto to it until the car is back in my garage. I always go with them when they test drive and don't just let anyone drive it. Only let them if you believe they have a genuine interest in buying.

I am sure that when you bought it you wanted to thrash it once or twice on the test drive to make sure it all went well so in a way you have to expect that in return. But if at any stage you feel uncomfortable with their driving of your car tell them to stop! Again if they are at all interested im sure they will understand.

Hope this helps

If/when I am going to sell my car, I won't be letting a prospective buyer drive it unless they wanna put down a non-refundable $2k cash deposit to cover my insurance excess and then some if they write it off. If they don't want to do that and still insist on driving it, then they're not serious in my opinion.

An alternative which seems to work (and is in fact how I bought my car) is to just be the passenger and let them drive it. If they want to know what "a Skyline" feels like to drive, get them to test drive one from a dealer first, then come back to yours. You can pick up most important things in the passenger seat. The only thing I got him to do was let me hold the steering wheel to check for vibration on a straight bit of road. There was none, and no other problems with it that I didn't pick up from the passenger seat.

Don't let em drive it. They should be happy to sit in the passenger seat first time.

Or if they do sound keen, let them drive but ALWAYS sit in the passenger seat. But you never know, they could be some turbo n00b who is just going to plant it and go sideways into the nearest wall. My mate nearly did that in a GTR much to my dismay.. owner wasn't happy! but it was funny..

Just explain to them the situation. If they are a genuine buyer they will understand. If they want a joy ride they can go elsewhere.

    • Depending on how long the car sat it is very possible for injectors to be stuck open or closed, I'd get them cleaned and flow tested. Other than that, obviously when the loom changes and the car doesn't start any more....the loom is suspect so some tracing / comparing may be required
    • Harness is for a s1 Rb25det, and it is engine and lower harness.  the old harness had broken off plugs and was in very rough condition/exposed wires and splices etc. it is not able to be put back on the car, I could visually inspect to see if they had rewired any pins on the ecu plug. The fuel pump definitly isn’t turning off it’s an external pump and very loud you can hear it. Will look at the other harness tonight, am also going to pull the fuel rail and watch the injectors spray, will update here with what I find. Pretty sure at this point it has to be something to do with injectors because car will fire up on starting fluid and cas is clicking the Injectors. Fuel pressure is steady 43psi
    • Check the injectors flow evenly, and are actually flowing what you and the ECU think they should be flowing. If it's starting up on starter fluid, you have a fuel issue. Is it possible under cranking your fuel pump is turning off?   The harness you replaced, is that the whole engine harness? Do yourself a test, and drop the old harness on and plug it into the Z32 ECU. It's possible they've wired things different. From memory S1 to S2 is different in RB25 and you may have a wrong loom
    • I haven’t pulled the injectors to watch them spray yet but they are clicking from the cas and all of the spark plugs are wet with fuel. I’ve thought the cylinders were being flooded from the beginning and was hoping fuel pressure would fix it. Tonight I am going to pull the rail and watch the injectors spray. Don’t know how to test/diagnose if the plugs are firing in correct sequence but that should be a timing thing and as far as timing goes my car still has the half moon for the cas can only install it 1 way. And my mechanical timing is 100% correct I posted photos above. Confirmed with the balancer on and off.
