I have a R33 GTR and I know that you need the same sized tyres on all wheels. I've been putting it in RWD using this method http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/379620-putting-r33-gtr-into-rwd/ I have standard R33 GTR wheels for normal use and R34 GTT wheels for RWD fun. The GTR wheels have 235/45/17 tyres and the R34 GTT wheels have 225/45/17 tyres. The wheels have different offsets but I was wondering if I put 235/45/17 tyres on the R34 GTT wheels, would it be ok to use them for the rear and use the R33 GTR wheels for the front when I want to put the car in RWD?

Will be fine. Wheel diameter is exactly the same, tyre is exactly the same. All same same.

More to the point, if the car is in RWD mode then you could even have different sized tyres front to rear as the ATTESSA system is already beyond caring about it at that point.

Wow really? Can anyone else confirm this?

Problem is that if I used it with different sized tyres, I'd have to keep putting it in RWD mode using that method everytime I turn the car off and on...

I fail to understand what your point is. You specifically said that you want to run the different wheels, and I quote "when I want to put the car in RWD".

I took that to mean you would be putting it into RWD mode when you had the mismatched wheels on it.

If what you really mean is you want the freedom to put it into RWD mode at any time, but run it in AWD mode at other times, with the mismatched wheels on, then of course the rolling diameter of the tyres must be the same.
