Hi,

My next set of modifications has me looking at 6 boost top mount twin scroll turbo manifolds,

With this i am also going to need to convert my current GT3076R internally gated to a twin scroll housing with no wastegate (For external wastegate)

My 34 is a streeter and i am aiming for 330Rwkw with headroom for the power bug :)

The current housing is .50 A/R this seems like a very low ratio, what should i be looking for to have street response but meet my power goal.

Ive also heard that i should use the biggest exhaust flange that will fit, i am having difficulty finding housings with T4 flange, will T3 be sufficient?

what else have i missed that i should be concidering?

You will need a .70 compressor housing mate and I maybe wrong but I didn't know 6 boost does a split pulse T3? I think Tial do a stainless steel divided rear which you would want a .82.What fuel do you plan to run as 330kw is probably getting to the upper limits of its flow so doubt you will have too much head room for power.

Agreed^^^ I made 336kw on the standard low mount manifold with a bolt on internally gated GTX3071R on E85. If you got e85 nearby upgrade your fuel system and re tune for porn juice. You stay looking stock under the bonnet and meet your power goal and if your setup is well sorted maybe squeeze in 350kw.

Are you saying run the GT35 on the standard manifold or 6 boost? (I don't take stock looking under the bonnet as a good thing :P)

Oops just realised the .50 A/R is my compressor housing, not rear housing

Mick_o why do you say that i will need to change the compressor housing?

How laggy should i expect the GT35 to be when combined with a twin scroll manifold? (I was originally searching for better response/earlier boost)

And no E85 for me, only got pump 98 avalible

It is a big cost to get maybe 400rpm response.

If you are going to spend the money and want mid 300s a bigger turbo is needed so add that as well. You are looking at 8k+

A GT35R wouldn't fit on the stock manifold I woulda thought lol. When Mr po po puts his flashing lights on and wants to look under your bonnet looking stock would probably be quite appealing ;) I woulda thought the lil .50 comp would choke but then again XR6's run them on GT35's

Wolverine has already tried picking up response with a twin scroll 3076 on his car and the gains were very minimal for the outlay.

Mate I dont think cams would help a great deal either maybe 10 -15kw max?? You are kinda at a crossroad with your setup as its pretty much maxed out on 98. If you want more now outta your setup E85 it (which isn't an option for you) or go for a bigger setup IMO but then that inroduces lag which clearly you're not a fan of lol :)

Id suggest shooting Stao from hypergear a pm and tell him what you're looking for :)

290rwkw is pretty awesome man and will be a good compromise between response / streetability / power! The twin scroll gt3076r wont be worth it in the end, if you want to spend all that money fiddling about just sell it off and go for a newer technology turbo.

Ill bump the hta3076r. Search for it on here, its more responsive and makes more power than a standard gt3076r in any form (internal or external gate) and in non twin scroll t3. Just costs a bit more but sounds like money isnt too fussy if youre planning twinscroll , new manifold etc etc.

Power doesn't make the car undrivable... Mine is so good to drive around daily and makes the power when needed... Clocked up 400kms today and loved it!!

I agree with a lot of the comments, a lot of expense for a return that will be good but nothing to rave about...

I should say that the 290Rwkw was made on the highest boost setting of 1.45Bar which i rarely run it at, and i only haven't done my own power run yet so i cant comment on how legit the dyno sheets supplied with the car are, i just feel like it needs more :D

You can copy the setup ANGRYRB is doing and do the twin scroll low mount setup which should make it come on hard BUT it's still a lot of cost to get there...

ATPturbo sell both a T3 and T4 footprint TS GT30 turbine housings.

Garrett also have one available now if memory serves.

You can get away with a single gate with TS, whilst not perfect it will do the job. Providing 6Boost make a decent wastegate port there should be little reversion.

I changed from at GT3040 open 0.82 to a TS GT3076 ATP 0.82 so mine isn't a like for like comparison.

The new setup is better since it comes to life earlier but realistically for the money spent it probably wasn't worth changing something already on the car. A few hundred rpm on the street hardly makes any difference which is pretty much what I use mine for.

On a track though.....

Its probably been discussed before but im wondering wether the runners should have a smaller diameter as the 6boost manifold seems a lot larger at the collector than the t3 exhaust housing, I removed a lot of material to port match the two and if its made for 400kw+ then its obviously not outmatching the turbo's size and potential..

Re-reading over some of this, im going to be performing the 100,000k service soon so if i could pick up a set of type B cams for under 800 doesn't sound too bad as long as it isnt going to negatively affect my power curve.

Was also going to chuck in an adjustable EX cam gear while doing timing belt, although i have read mixed results. (But at ~$200 cant really complain at the gamble as long as it doesn't go backwards)

    • So stock ECU does not like anything above 10 psi?  That Nistune one is just for "try" if it will be any different, I know it need to be tune for that. I know but YOU may know about these problem but i/we dont. They few little Skylines here let alone people who know anything about tham so that is why iam asking here  
    • So now we have a radiator with no attachments whatsoever. It lifts up with a particularly tight spot between the drivers side air box mount and the lower radiator outlet, but if you've got this far you will sort that too. This is the lower mounts with the rad out so you can see where the rubber bushes go, it is a straight shot upwards Done! Assembly is the reverse of disassembly, with blood less likely to be shed.
    • Right, onto the second last trick. The Air Con condenser is mounted to the front of the radiator and stays in the car when the radiator is removed. There are 2x 10mm headed self tappers holding the top of the condenser to the radiator, remove those The bottom of the condenser is attached to the radiator with clips. You need to lift the condenser out of those clips and clear (up, then forward). f**ked if  could work out how to do that last bit with the front bumper on. I hope you can, and you share the trick.  Bumper removal probably deserves its own thread one day once I've recovered the will to live, but basically you need to remove the wheels, front inner guard liners (clips and 10mm headed bolts), the self tapper between the guard and the bumper at the rearmost point of the bumper (same as an R32 that bit), any remaining clips at the top/front of the grill, an absolute bastard design with a plate that holds the top of the bumper above the headlight each side (only 1 bolt which is tricky to get to, but the plate catches 2 places on the bumper and must be removed....carefully!) and push clips between the bumper and guard under the headlight. If you've done all that you will be faced with wiring for the fog lights on both sides and in ADM Q50 RS at least, 4 nasty tight plugs on the driver's side for the ADAS stuff. So, the clips at the bottom look like this on drivers side (looking from the front) And on the passenger side (also from the front), you can see this one is already out Clearance on both of these are super tight; the condenser needs to move up but the upper rad support mount prevents that, and the radiator can't move down far because it is (rubber) mounted. Once you achieve the impossible and drop the condenser off those mounts so it does not stop the rad moving, you are good to go
    • OK, next the shroud needs to come off and there are a couple of tricks. Firstly, there is a loom from near the passenger side headlight to the fans, coolant temp sensor etc and there is no plug to undo.  In my case I was OK to leave the shroud on top of the engine so I just undid the passenger side fan plug and about 10 of the clips which gave enough free wire to put it aside. The fan plugs were super tight, the trick I used was a small falt screwdriver to push down on the release tab, then a larger flat screwdriver to lever the plug out of the fan unit....be careful with how much force you apply! If you need to remove the shroud altogether for some reason you will have to deal with all the plugs (tight) and clips (brittle)....good luck. I removed all of the clips and replaced them with cable ties that I will just cut next time. Also, in the Red Sport / 400R at least, the intake heat exchanger reservoir hose is bolted to the shroud in 2 places with 10mm headed bolts; so remove them (the hose stays in the car; no need to undo it at the t fittings down at the radiator lower mount. Once you've dealt with the HX hose and the wiring loom, there are 3x 10mm headed self tappers holding the top of the shroud to the radiator; remove those.   The shroud then lifts out of the bottom mounts where it sits on the radiator, up and onto the engine out of the way. Simples
