Hey i have recently converted my R33 s2 coupe from auto into a manual. I was told from a friend who use to work at a nissan dealer that the ATM module isnt combined with the ECU unlike the R34 but he didnt know where it was either. Has anyone ever removed or installed a ATM in a 33? if so where is it and can i just unplug it??

Thank you :)

Not 100% sure, but I think there is some kind of ECU in under my center console. (seen through the rear ashtray)

My 4door was auto but changed to manual in Japan.

Have you changed ECU? Mine still had the stock Auto ECU and would Burble and Fap when rolling down hill in high a gear.

Hi all, can anyone please confirm the location of the ATM? Is it the driver side kick panel?

I think i have a problem with my auto transmission fluid temperature sensor. I think it is sending an incorrect reading to my ATM (Automatic Transmission Module, Transmission Control Module, TCM etc).

The transmission will not go into 4th gear (overdrive) between 10mins to 30mins of continuous driving.

I am planing to override the temp sensor signal going to the ATM and see if this will work. If it does, i can either overide this permanetly, or get a new temp sensor.

Thanks.

Hi all,

I manage to replace the faulty temperature sensor with a '5k ohms variable resister' going into the TCU (which i can confirm it is located inside the driver side kick panel).

I then turn the resister to about 2.5kOhms, and the transmisison 'thinks' the temperate is constansat at around 80c, and it shifts perfectly.

this is an hack job if you don't want to replace the temp sensor, but you will be risking the fact that the car doens't know what the real temperature of the transmission is.

The transmission for the r33 GTST s2 automatic is "re4r01a", you can search and download this manual for the purpose of this hack.

thanks.
