A bit about who you are and what you drive.

George, I'm in accounts (hate it and looking for another job soon)

I like skydiving, movies, hanging out and naturally cars. Enjoy a good meal and a good woman. not neceserally in that order

I drive a R33T with the plates ONARUN, as if you wouldn't have guessed. I love my car more than most things so if we happen to go on a cruise and you lean on it and i kick your teeth in you know why. j/k :)

i'm really a nice person. i am ok, my anger management teacher said so so don't f**k with me.

Well, I'm Duncan, and I'm a full time race driver (although I work as an IT consultant the other 5 days each week).

I've got a boring, stock R33GTS, and a terrible addiction to track days.

Its great to see this club get moving (and not be relying on the goodwill of the Kiwi bunch). Keep up the good work!

HI! I'm Shell, and I am one of the previous mentioned "blokettes" (also known as dudette or matette).

I don't even live in NSW but I'm saying hi anyway cos Canberra is often forgotten and considered "just another town" in NSW :)

I drive a wine red R33...but my next car will be a bright yellow R34 GT-T :O

P.S. ONARUN's anger management classes are going ok, but don't push him, cos he might turn on you when you least expect it!!

My name is James / Jim / JiMb0 / JtC or any variant in between. You'll see me in a silver R33 GTS-t called Carla (don't ask), plates JTC-000.

Currently working for Dingo Blue as a Tier 2 Tech Support Rep and also Porting Management groupie :) but as we all know the demise of Dingo Blue will soon mean I'll be on the street *YEY*

I'm obviously into cars, but also enjoy coding in various languages, digital photography and manipulation, fine dining (with nothing less than fine women) and getting on the piss with mates every Friday night.

How do you tell if JiMb0 is on a cruise you ask ? Well OK, so I havn't been actively involved in cruises yet but all will be sorted once work settles down a bit and I've worked on the car to the point I'm happy. Just remember to keep an eye out for the tall guy with spikey hair and you can't go too wrong.

I'm certainly looking forward to meeting all you guys, specially my other half George  hahahaha. What about we organise a Skydiving meet

I don't know if my Sky will make it (I'm waiting for my new job until I get insurance and finish few mods) but I'll be happy to tag along if anyones got a spare seat 8)

Well I'm Michael, I'm from Newcastle, I drive a burgundy GTS25t which I am really trying to do up, but it has been a slow process (although I got my FMIC yesterday!!!)

I'm an analyst programmer for a defence company which is surprisingly a damn boring job that was nothing like what I expected when I joined them.

I like cars (obviously), computers, bikes, getting pissed and bludging on weekends, music and movies. That's not in order btw - I'm really into the whole home theatre thing.

Anyway, that's about all there is to know about me, or at least as much as I'm going to write.

Cheers,

Mic

i've done 5 solo jumps and then i bought my ca. that was the end of my skydiving career. it's pretty expensive but worth every cent.

you're like me, always wanted to do it but never got motivated. my mate did one jump and he psyched me up some and then i had to go to check it out myself. awsome stuff 8O

    • So.....wire it up appropriately. You can't use the resister pack with those injectors anyway.
    • that’s the thing i’m on ID1050s and haltech not getting power due to the injector resistor
    • ahh okay cheers, i was thinking of just going for the m073, think m079 would be way too overkill considering they are same size.
    • My first car was a HG. I'm very familiar with them. A mild cam upgrade is a good idea. The 186 is a very flexible engine - meaning it has good torque from down low. You can give up a little torque down low for quite a lot more excitement in the mid range, and a bit more up top - but they are not exactly a rev monster. You need to upgrade valve springs at the minimum. For a bigger cam, you'd want to make sure it wasn't still running the original fibre cam gear. That would be unlikely, given that most of them shat themselves in the 70s and 80s, but still within the realms of possibility. Metal cam gear required. Carbies are a huge issue. The classic upgrade was always a Holley 350, which works, but is usually pretty bad for fuel consumption. The 186S had a 2 barrel Stromberg on it that was very similar to the one on the 253, and is a reasonable thing if you can find one, and find someone to help you get it set up (which is the same issue with setting up a 350 to work nice). The more classic upgrade was twin sidedraught CD type carbs, or triples of same, or triple Webers. The XU-1 triple Webers being the best example. You can still buy all this stuff new, I think, but it's a lot of coin to drop. And then the people able to set them up are getting fewer and further in between. There's still some, but it used to be everyone's** dad and uncle could do it. **Not everyone's! But a lot. All in all, I wouldn't get too carried away with the engine. Anything you do to it without a full rebuild for power and revs will only make it slightly faster. I am all in favour of a complete teardown rebuild, with nice rods and pistons, 10 or 10.5:1 compression, and a clean port job with at least a big enough cam to run 98 with that compression, if not bigger. And if I did that to a dirty old red motor, I'd want to inject it too, which I'd struggle to fight against the devil on my shoulder that would argue for ITBs and trumpets. But the bills would start to mount up, and it will still never make stupid power. OK, a few people still know how to build absolutely mental red motors, courtesy of the work that went into HQ racing and modern knowledge being applied. But even a 300HP red motor is no match for an RB20 with a TD06. So you have to decide what it's worth to you. I'd just put a set of 6>2>1 extractors, a 2.5" exhaust and an electronic ignition conversion/dizzy on it and just run the old girl like the fairly slow old girl that she really is.
