Mugabetown - Whoretownin' At It's Worst.

Recommended Posts

There's a really nice stealth black R32 in engine bay picks section with powerglide. Have been weighing up options and this approach for something for quick street/drag. Wet clutch, torque multiplication and transbrake for drag would make for a very interesting launch, if the theory meets the real world. Fingers crossed :)

there was a 500kw 32 in town that had a 2 speed in it, but i never got to go in it. had about a 5500rpm stall on it

then again getting hi powered rwd off the line cleanly is all in the launch control/suspension setup and how much rubber you can stick under it

lol look at the advice google gives you on that

So true. Set up will be drag orientated, but engineered. I get a pretty good supply of used Michelin race slicks from Porsche Cup car. They aren't totally gone, approximately 50%, but won't be using these on street - they are atrocious cold and HWP don't tend to see the positive traction side lol

What do you mean? Hwp love seeing racing slicks on imports on the street. They love that sort of behaviour. :P

On that note, morning all!

Cost/gain analysis - $50 each and no drag bags slapping into arches/guards and better grip than semis

They will have worse grip than streets let down to 20psi. Been there done that, it doesn't work.

On 18" qualifying tyres? This hasn't been my experience.

Yep. They have no side wall and no bag and most of them have seen too many heat cycles too. Good for circuit terribly shite for drag racing. A good set of drag radials picked up .5 of a second in the 60ft. 2 seconds down to 1.5.

The lesson I learned from all this is to use a tyre for what it is built for. If you aren't you are pushing shit up hill.

What a lovely day, and tomorrow is Friday :D

Tis a nice day. I am outside for half of it too. I do have to audit a fish processing plant though. .. bit worried about that, walking past the fish section at coles makes me gag

    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
