Mugabetown - Whoretownin' At It's Worst.

I already have an exemption... For a turbo.

And hopefully I'll be buying the NA Saturday. If not turbo it is.

I rather get an NA now cos then if the cars in good nic keep it till I can swap the engine and it'll be sweet

If that's the case, then why not get an R32 and upgrade to a RB25 when you're ready? Lighter, prettier (in my opinion) and a 2L NA won't chew through fuel like a 2.5L NA would.

If you are set on getting a R33 NA, then make sure that it is 100% straight and manual. That way, you can flog the box (lol!) and it will take a beating. Will also teach you how the car moves and then you can put the head on a 30 and boost it - which is not as easy as it sounds but anyway.

It's auto, been re painted. Engine looks in good nic, r32s look weird to me. I can't drive manual skylines. I can't change gears properly and I don't want to learn.

thats not the attitude to have. I will teach u Kath in da GTR!

I can drive manual. It's just that from first to second sucks. Plus city driving is much better in an auto

This is true but you get used to it. If it's a factory or forgiving clutch, then you'll be right. No fun to be had in autos really.

Autos are designed to be more efficient and economical. I know that in mine, if I'm in D, the car isn't willing to stay about 2.5k rpm even when I'm hammering it. Eg: going around a corner pretty hard, you lift and the revs drop right down as it will automatically select the most economical gear. Whereas in tip, the TCU switches to sports mode and allows a lot more free revving. Don't know if the older manuals had this option. Also, if it isn't tip, how are you going to chose the right gear? If you're in traffic and want to give it a bootful around someone at 60kmph, the box will have you in 4th and you won't have the torque there. Just saying, that if you plan on building the car in the future, get as many things right now as possible as parts cost cash. You could be paying up to $1k for a decent RB25 manual box whereas buying a manual now may only cost an additional $300-$500. f**k with it, learn to drive it, destroy the clutch and replace it. You'll still be better off financially.

Don't get me wrong. Autos are great but if you want performance, it should be a manual or a very smart auto box.

    • I'm guessing you mean something like this size? https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/bodyworx-bodyworx-hard-soft-sanding-block---70-x-135mm/594184.html?cgid=SCA01100303#srsltid=AfmBOoq_qZTEe3boann9BaHiB2f59dxJlosWLzCr0zm_weHgUlDX-N5f&start=6 Are they sanded completely flat?
    • Just a standard sanding block size. With the rock chipa they are quite small. I sanded them as you could feel the edges.
    • Say you've just laid all your filler and your about to start sanding, how large is the sanding block your using?  Like a high fill primer? Technically possible but would be a nightmare. Just guessing from the photo, but they look small enough that you might get away with using a 1k spot putty. Normally you'd use something like this on pinholes but with the type of project you're working on I'd give it a go.
    • Omg Brake pedal removal.. FML!!
    • I mean, I can confirm the TPS is at 100%.... I can confirm when we installed the TB and setup the cable that the TB was indeed fully open at max pedal travel.. the same 'curve' (WRT MAP vs MAP) existed with the previous setup/TB/manifold as well... No, we did not do a run with no intake connected. I would love to go back in time to do such a run to rule out the intake. It would have also been good to do a run with the airbox lid off. There's a test there where increased IAT vs more available air could be a positive tradeoff. I remember taking the lid off my R34 Turbo setup back in the day and noticing a monster increase, even if IAT's did go up. Could be similar. Hard to test unless I find a very deserted road.
