I would be looking for 400+ if that's at all possible with a dirty 30

Stupid comment of the day goes to... Matt!

You don't need big horsepower. Learn to f**king steer. McFly has 260rwkw, Z32 mike had just shy of 300 rwkw, Cadmoon has 180rwkw, Benno's S13 was running a stock RB20 with factory gear and they would all run after up Nebo, glorious or around LP faster than you.

Coilovers, sway bars, strut brace, decent tyres and learn how to use a clutch and steering wheel properly.

I don't want to hear any one else encouraging p platers to mod their cars in an illegal fashion. Yes, a 30 in a 33 is illegal. The motor wasn't an option and hence would require a blue plate.

Time and time again, the guys who've done it have said that it's not a great idea and have outlined the reasons why. If this doesn't suffice, contact someone else via pm. Colin had a pretty decent 32 and his advice is valid. If you want to play with the big boys, listen to the advice try give. If not, you will be a statistic and create more grief for the community as a whole.

This is a public forum and if you guys don't sort out your act, this page will be closed.

    • Like others have said, drop the power to give your drivetrain a % of reliability until you can up the drivetrain reliability  It isn't rocket science, build power to the weakest link with a % of safety Whilst upping the the reliability of the drive train is costly, there's no point in having the engine make big power if it keeps eating the drivetrain....ask me how I know, I had the tow truck on speed dial for a few years, and I spent huge amounts of money fixing issues and breakages that really would have been cheaper in the long run if I did it right the first time Me, I like a nice sized fudge factor, that keeps me off the tow truck
    • I don't understand what the issue is with, turn the boost down and start saving $$.  As soon as you can afford the supporting mods, turn the boost back up.  If the car is running fine, enjoy it. Turning the boost down isn't going to kill you.
    • That is surely the biggest gathering of Stageas in North America, ever!

    • I know people cry at the price of the Getrag 12-14k for a conversion now, but it really is a nice mid point. Not going to get change from 10k on a gearset installed.  $30k++ for sequential.   I know you run the risk of a damaged used one and parts are hard to get but as a street car gearbox its really hard to beat. If you enjoy a more traditional manual, its the choice no question.
