666DAN
Yes a special tool was cobbled together out of 3 x 1/4" extensions and a knuckle joint etc etc to narrowly avoid everything in the bay and latch onto the 14mm bolt, smashed it out in minutes. Nope not in comp with Labdirect, so busy with my 'real' job that I don't have time to look at anything else at the moment Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/431233-mugabetown-whoretownin-at-its-worst/page/683/#findComment-7199942 Share on other sites

cowdy
Today is a good day for a drive, methinksPete I would say radiator out, fan and clutch off, belts off, covers off, get it on top dead center, crack all the cam gear bolts before you losen the tensioner on the belt, mark edge of belt and gears with white out or paint pen, losten tensioner, slip belt off, carefully remove gears without turning cams, transfer marks from old gears to new ones, put back togeather the belt, turn the engine over by the crank bolt about 6-8 revolutions and then line the timing marks up again off the pulleys and block( the belt will be in a different spot) If they all line up back togeather undo the tensioner and then retighten so it is seated right Once tight, tighten cam pulley bolts and put it back togeather While your in there I would recommend getting a timing belt kit, do the pulley's and seals same time And also while you you are that far in you should probably do water pump Pm me if you want and I can give you a full rundown but more descriptive Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/431233-mugabetown-whoretownin-at-its-worst/page/683/#findComment-7200097 Share on other sites

Thanks for the tip of smashing off the cam gear belts before removing the tensioner, hadn't thought of that one. Timing belt and pulley's have been done recently, unless the tensioner/water pump etc is obviously stuffed i probably won't bother replacing them, either way once i tear it down i can make a decision and get the parts before i put it back together again. Then.. fuel pump, injectors and AFM. Then getting the car to the workshop. I'm figuring flatbed may be the best bet, anyone know a good towing mob?
