Hi guys i need some advise before going to dyno i got some stock r32 turbo freshly rebuilt with 360 thrust bearing with the inconel steel exaust wheel + hks axaust + m's air filter + tomei cam gear + nismo fpr + tomei fuel pump ... Ok so my main concern is did these turbo will max out( push hot air ) before maxing out the injector or the maf??? So at all what will maxing out the first thing ???

Sorry for my english :s

Thanks

Nic

GTR or GTSt? Thread title suggests GTR. OP text suggests single turbo.

Stock GTR turbos ran out of flow at about the same power as the original injectors did, so it's probably a guessing game as to which will clip first when you have an upgraded fuel pump. If the Nismo FPR is adjustable then you might be able to squeeze a little more flow again.

The same comments hold true for RB20DET. The stock turbo reaches a limit (14psi) around the same point where you run out of injector and AFM range (in the 170rwkw range depending on a lot of little factors). But a steel wheeled stock turbo can be pushed to higher boost and so then the limitation is most certainly not the turbo if you have a decent intercooler.

if the turbo still has the stock comp wheel, exh housing etc, the turbo will run out of puff before anything else.... think around 140-160rwkw.

Ah crap, I was thinking hr32 not bnr32 when you said turbo not turbo's.

Bnr/GTR twins, you'll be looking at around 220rwkw at a guess. It's hard to say without knowing exactily what is in the turbo's.

Sorry its for the bnr32 everything in the turbo is stock exept for the 360degree thrust bearing suppose to hold more psi than the conventionel 270 degre and of coirse the inconel steel exaust wheel ... housing stock

Thank you for reply guys

Nic

The way I read it is Nic has an Rb26 with the e-bay turbines upgrade?

He's done the fuel pump and a few other items so all things being equal it should top out closer to the 300rwkw end rather than the 200rwkw.

Stock injectors would call it a day under the 300rwkw, AFM's would go a bit more.

Turbos would not be operating too efficiently but the upgrade only cost a few hundred bucks, can't expect 21st century results.

Can you post a bit of your setup pls and how much boost you have at the time??

Thanks

Nic

Yeh mate, just basic mods really.

Front pipes, trust exhaust, decat, power fc, standard airbox with apexi filter and cam gears. 287rwkw spiked to 17.5 psi dropping down to 15.5 in higher rev range.

Everything else was standard on an unopened engine. I replaced injectors and fuel pump later on as a precaution, they were 20 years old as well as reconditioned afm.

Wasn't making that much more power with more boost and you'll find that it won't hold such high boost anyway with standard wastegates and solenoid. This is where it made most power efficiently and safely.

End of the day you are still limited by the compressor wheel. Regardless of 360 degree bearings or non-ceramic rear... You'll only ever be making 280-290rwkw as the turbos simply do not flow the air to make anymore than that.

    • So.... the K&N air box thingo was too big, ended up gifting it to a mate, well, by gifting it he actually supplied food and beer at the pub,  which was nice, as it will not sit on a shelf in the garage for the next 10 years I did trim up some of the existing stuff to neaten it all up and gave it some wrinkle paint, unfortunately it currently has a used and abused mish mash of different types of hose clamps, 4 big fat T bolt type (shit), and a few normal clamps of vairing sizes and brands, but..... only until the 6 constant tension black worm clamps that I ordered from EFI solutions turn up next week Currently the current hose clamps are triggering me hard, LOL Is this the final version, probably not, I really want just 2 silicone pieces, a straight bit of silicone from the filter to the MAF is easy and will happen as soon as I head into Just Jap tomorrow, the problematic part is a 30° silicone bend from the MAF to the TB that I can connect the engine breather from the head, I found that there are bulk head fittings for boat bilge pumps that should work, but until I can get a 30° silicone bend the alloy pipe, and the 11ty thousand hose clamps, are there for the foreseeable future 4 hose clamps are golden, 6 are grudgingly acceptable, the 8 currently holding it all together is just taking the piss    I've also ordered 60 more retaining wall blocks for the front yard, I mis-gonculated the height that was required to get above the base of the Photinia's (red robin's) that are the hedge behind the front fence, currently it is 2 blocks high, and about 1/2 a block short, so going 3 blocks high will be above the base of the red robin's, and allow some room for mulch
    • It is the stock air box with the panel filter. Everything else is stock except the exhaust at this point, as I also went back to the cleaned 270cc injectors. I will check the RPM when the IACV is unplugged and report back.
    • As MBS suggested if this is happening when the engine is cold you're going to want to remove the intake air regulator and verify resistance + that the shutter is physically opening and closing. At -20C should be fully open, 20C half open, over 60C fully closed. At 20C should be 70-80 ohms. For AAC valve testing using a Consult cable see if you can raise and lower the idle by commanding more or less AAC duty cycle. Hopefully it's pretty linear as well, shouldn't be like 30% AAC valve is barely idling and 40% is 1500 rpm.
    • Bloody apprentices! 🙄
    • Not sure yet.  Was considering speedtek because it was rated to 800hp, but when I did some research about him I don't think I will go for that🤣 So maybe giken gear set, but I'm afraid it won't be strong enough🙄
