I got a rb25de neo in my r32 and a couple of people told me my vct might not be working simply based on the fact that plug is not connected. I dont have a wire running to the plug. Does anyone know if there is any sure way to know if the VCT is working on not? The car picks up bad revs after 4000 but i heard vct is always working and not like vtec

thank you.

If there is no plug connected to your VCT then it is NOT working.

If you had the plug connected up to the VCT and it WAS rooted you will hear a Tick Tock as soon as you lift it above idle basically....mine is rooted and does just that when i plug it back in.

Are you getting some bad knock from your engine when you punch it?

How VCT works..

at idle it's off, when throttle is pressed and RPM between 1100 & 4500rpm it's on.. when it goes past 4500rpm it turns off again

so if it's unplugged it's doing jack shit.. it's constantly off :)
