hi all,

had a chat with the PAC guys in Melbourne re: sound deadening just for general road noise, $1k job, floor doors, roof liner etc...

i'm keen to see if there is a big difference with getting this done... not a cheap exercise, but if it's a night and day type situation i'd probably be very keen to give it a shot.

yes i know it's an R, etc etc... but full Ti exhaust is plenty loud enough to hear the RB note whenever i would like :D, highway driving and what not would be nice to quiet down a bit.

so if anyone has done this to their car, i'd love to hear what you thought of the before and after.

thanks!

daniel

im against sound deadening. got dynamat in the doors and there is little to praise it about with the cost, weight and such a pain in the ass to remove.

If general driving noise, much easier just get smaller wheels/less noisy tyres.

If exhaust noise... sound deadening in the boot and under seats should be enough. fark getting the roof and doors done. Save your wallet, and save the person who eventually buys the car off you :P

definitely wouldn't do it myself, it would be drop off to professionals to sort it out.

definitely not going smaller wheels, tyres :D

probably need to sit in a 34, or something equivalent, that's been done, see what it's like on the road....

Any missed spots from the factory under the carpet and rear seat would be a good start, followed by boot floor and boot lid. Doors are good for aftermarket audio and roof probably won't make a lot of difference

    • Yep, it was only an option on the Q50 Hybrid.  Same in Japan as far as I know. And doesn't use a centre diff like the Suby's do, so not the same as the WRX.  But it also isn't a reactive AWD like other Nissan AWD vehicles are, eg. Murano/Xtrail/etc.
    • You should have got a Maine Coone then. Only thing is they're big. But so cool, and just like a dog. Or, just get yourself a high performance dog. That'll teach you for wanting Parkour indoors 😛
    • Are you thinking of Bens R32? I don't remember if his went through the bonnet itself, but it went through the chassis rail. Brad (RISKIN) bought it, and turned it into a track car. It's funny how anti people are of Jim Berry now. I remember when I pulled mine out (during an engine change) and inspected it and found it cracking badly. At that point in time so many people were even on SAU, were so pro Jim Berry, and that was after Bens GTR exploded his quite publically.
    • That's one of the reasons I got that breed, they look weird, the other reasons are they small, they are very vocal, and run around like they are on crack, I didn't want a breed that just sits around, these two are like kids on red cordial  My daughter has one, and it's a laugh riot, constantly doing Parkour around the house, sits on her shoulder, plays catch, and constantly runs around the house taking turns chasing the dog around, her Bermese though, just lays around with constant bitch face, and just looks on in utter disgust at the cat and dog playing together
    • I'm getting PTSD flashbacks seeing that name again.  With my turbo swift, I got 1,500km of street use on a Jim Berry clutch before it exploded and took out my input shaft with it.
