Hey guys got the bad news today that my RB25 is toast in my S1 RS4. Pretty frustrating considering It hapened after owning the car for less than a week.

What RB25 will fit in without any major modification? Do all AWD versions from 33's and Stageas fit?

Obviously RB25 neo is completely different and would require the correct ECU etc?

Ive change alot of old toyota engines but nothing quite this complex is it a tough job? Im overall pretty handy but is there something I should look out for? Can the engine be lifted from the top or does it need to be dropped out with the whole subframe of a hoist? Do I seperate engine and box?

Any help would be great guys.

Shouldn't be hard to find another stagea s1 complete engine and cheap too. Where are you located?

As for the change over I found it easiest to take gearbox and engine out together, but don't forget to label all of the lines and hoses. That is what stuffed me around the first time.

Challenge auto wreckers in Sydney have complete s1 engines advertised for $1200 they also do freight. But you being in S.A should make it easier from what I remember there are a few jap import wreckers around radalaide or even import monster in Vic should be able to help you out.

Alternatively you can get your one rebuilt the most expensive thing is labour so getting it out and putting it in yourself will save heaps.

Probably a bit early into your ownership but would be an ideal time to get a Neo motor c/w ecu and loom and a GTR box!

But for minimum $$ pull your engine out and see what it needs to fix it or if you are in a hurry find another S1 Stagea motor.

      I can see between the water jacket and cyl 3 there wasn't a hard line of combustion gas. It certainly appears that the issue is coming from there. Yes, checked the tension. All at 100ft lbs where I set them 5 years ago. These blocks can crack but generally when they have been over bored. Mine is only 0.5mm oversize at 89.5mm. They break between cylinders around the 91mm mark. No sign of that with mine. My gut feeling is the head gasket lifted a while back when the studs stretched and i bandaided it by retorquing the studs. It's finally let go.

      My Nismo 1.5 churps a bit on reverse turns when cold, but besides that feels like a stock diff.

      So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
