So, I'm sitting on the side of the M5 as I write this, dirty and drenched from getting under my car...fun...

Getting to the point, I have a question. What does it mean if the paddle that the clutch slave pushes moves freely and makes a clicking sound? By freely, I mean I feel like it can move in all directions...

I know it's bad but is there an exact diagnosis or can it be a few different things?

Please help :(

Sounds like you're describing the throw out lever and it's broken?

Does happen especially if you have a heavy pedal due to an uprated clutch.

Other item that snaps is the actual clutch pedal.

That would be it my friend. I can actually pull on it as if to pull it out so I'm going to assume it's that.

Next question, does anyone know (roughly) what a mechanic would charge to fix this?

I've done mechanical stuff before but nothin in the box.

As adriano said, may just be a broken clutch fork pivot bolt. I had this happen in my 33.

Labour wise to get it fixed should only cost a couple of hours, so just depends on the hourly rate of your mechanic. It's not a hard job to get the gearbox out of s skyline, so any mechanic with half a brain shouldn't have a problem sorting out the problem.

You should be able to at least diagnose the problem by getting under the car with a torch.

Thanks for the responses and offeres for help guys.

Ended up getting it to a mechanic. Turns out it was the pivot ball, however, the clutch fork did have a crack in it so that needed replacing too.

I eneded up getting a replacement pivot ball, clutch fork, and while the box was out I got 3 bearings replaced, and ALSO got my tail shaft centre bearing replaced while we were going.

Got this all done for $1100. Sound about right?

    • Hey. Very valuable information about pitwork, I will pay attention when buying any consumable parts 🙏 As for the carpets - I got a handful of information from nengun, from which it appears that indeed the carpets for the driver's side are OEM. They are not able to show me any pictures due to the long chain of different sales entities but after I place the order, as soon as the goods arrive at the nengun warehouse from which they will send the shipment to me they can send me photos and if my purchase differs from OEM I can immediately return it / cancel the purchase. I think I will give it a try 😉. Of course i'll let you know what's what as soon as i get them P.s. I know the topic is not relevant to the thread, but both nengun and amayama have these SICK 😍 trunk room lamps available. Do you know anyone who ordered them? I need to have one in my car
