Was an absolute pain in the butt to make. Can understand why they are so expensive to purchase.

Even parts:

T28 to 3" intake adaptor $60

3" donut $80

80mm pipe $50

3" to 80mm silicon $20

80mm to 80mm silicon $15

Plus 5 hours labour

Turbo is on and running at wastegate pressure. Will have to check the logs to see what that pressure is. I did screw the gate up tighter by around 3mm more preload.

The turbo is very quiet. Response wise it now never feels like a normally aspirated car it always wants to spool. So normal driving is much much better. Feels like a lighter car down low.

I'll go out again in a little bit and do some logging to over lay the old vs new data. Overall the experience is changed to the sense that it now doesn't feel like a high flow. The power feels more linear rather than nothing then sledge hammer. I've found similar previously when going from straight blade to a curved Blade compressor wheel...obviously this has more than one change.

Boost response from my logs.

Big Boy vs SS2 Rev4

1 -.2

2.1 1.2

2.5 1.4

3 1.5

3.9 2.6

4.1 2.6

4.5 2.9

7.7 3.4

8.3 4.3

12.2 6.4

12.6 7.5

13.6 7.9

17.3 11.7

Response looks to be around 300 rpm better over the SS2 Rev4.

Running 20psi off the gate with it wound tighter

than it arrived by 3mm. Stable boost through all gears rather than lower boost for lower gears of the SS2 Rev4

Driving characteristics

Light throttle off the line testing response (27% throttle)

Keen to get some more boost into it. Pulls very well at only 20psi.

This is a big turbo that is very easy to drive as a daily. Expecting some decent numbers. I have a center muffler to change out that I noted had a 20% restriction inside and then I'll up the boost and dyno.

Boost now at 28psi. Try's to change lanes...in 3rd...I don't have a proper LSD being a non ARX. I've previously had a 33 4 door 5 speed auto with a RB26DETT that I ran an 11.8s quarter in (project 11's from ZOOM magazine) the Stag feels faster...

I've maxed it out with a bleed valve anyway

1st 22psi

2nd 25psi

3rd 29psi

4th ??

If I synthetically induce load with the brake I get more boost.

Played with the timing. Going from +6 to +8 degrees of timing up top makes a very noticeable difference.

1st 26 degrees

2nd 24 degrees

3rd 18 degrees

My turbo is being done atm by hypergear. I went the m35rv1. Not hoping for huge power just more then stock. Iv also gone hdi intercooler, am performance dump and mid pipe, am performance suction pipe and 14psi actuator. Will i hit any sort of cut with these mods or will the ecu be able to adapt?

You may possibly max out the afm. With similar mods prior to tuning I was hitting afm cut. But plenty have had similar with no issues.

    • Is it alright to top up with just another green coolant?
    • thanks GTSboy. My confusion at the moment is i am trying to locate the ignition, ECU battery power and the ECU negative The closest thing i can find is the for the S15 on Page 8 of the Wiring Specialties web page https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9F33_M_GgENQnZ6STMxVmVNd1E/view?resourcekey=0-eZ4nNRwRoqa1qvKlWWHm8A I cannot find the same diagram for the R33 RB25DET Series 2 dash plug pin out.... Do you know what the Pins? or know where i can find the same pinout diagram for the RB dash plug? Thanks for the advice on the box... i like a 6 speed so might be on the lookout or the box now.. a topic of discussion for another post...
    • Will have a look at that. I cant see any leaks
    • Put another overflow bottle (ie, a 1.25 coke bottle or similar) under the overflow hose and see if it is being pushed out there or if it is disappearing into the engine.
    • Staring on a stand is no issue. You just have to wire everything up, give it fuel and cross your fingers that the stand is robust enough. Arranging the inlet plumbing is often the hardest part, without any surrounding structure to hand some of it from. No need for coolant if you only want to run it for <1 minute. As to the gearbox - I think the little Aisin box is a bit stronger than the other small Nissan boxes that went behind SRs, but I wouldn't be too keen to test its limits with the torque of a boosted 25. I don't know if you can retain the box and the tailshaft. The box won't connect to the RB without an adapter of some sort, which is either a plate that will push the engine forward (which is not good for fitting it into the bay's available space) or push the box back, which messes with the box position and tailshaft length - OR - cut and shut work on the bellhousing, which is a long way from "least modification". I'd be buying a new 370Z 6 speed or similar, doing what has to be done to that to make it fit RB (ie, cut and shut bellhousing) and the requisite tailshaft custom/mods.
