Track Guru's. What Size Tyre

Hey all

I've got a quick question that I can't find an adequate answer to.

I have a set of 17 x 9 track rims. Now the biggest size tyre that can be fitted is a 255. I'm looking at running semi slicks. Nt01 to be exact.

Now the question. Is this tyre size adequate for my r33 gtr running 300kw?

Or should I be upgrading to a 9.5" rim running a 275 tyre?

An NT01 in 255 will be fine an NT01 in 275 will be better

Edit : will add I have 265/35/18 Hankook Z221s I will be running on my 34 with well over 400kws for track and have Hankook Z222s RS3s 275/35/19 for every day use and they do a admiral job of holding on

Haha. I know I know. 275 is probably the best.

But if you are happy with a 265 then surely I'd be happy with a 255.

It's more tyre then size, my 255/50?/16 Toyo TQs hold the power way way better then the 275s ( yes I actually got 16" R32 GTR wheels on my 34 ), the NT01s are basically a Toyo R888 anyway so if you already have them they will be way good enough, if you have to buy then then you may as well get 9.5s and go 275s

You will be fine on 255s when you hitting the track

If my 300kw with 265 AD08 street tyres is fine on the track then you will have no issue with 255 NT01's.

I also found my 265 rsr ' s did well at the track however they greased over on a 40 degree day at Wakefield. Not bad for a street tyre

SMSP in September ? Do tell, was going to try and get to Wakie on the Qs Bday but not going to be ready in time

The gp circuit is open on I think the 26th of September. I could be wrong. Check ardc.
