Looking at getting an aftermarket fibreglass bonnet for my gtr 33. It is not ADR approved though, is this a problem and why if so ? Thanks

Is there a way to getting it ADR approved ? Do cops take not of that much or more rim size, ride height exhaust noise etc?

Depends how "good" the cops are where you live, local force usually arnt to bad aslong as it's nothing dramatic (canards/flares/pig pipes etc). Highway patrol and transport department are 50x worse and WILL get you for less noticeable defects like padded steering wheels etc

Depends how obviously defectable you car is and also how you drive it. Keep it a reasonable height and drive like a normal person without their pants on fire and you should be right. I know someone in the club who drives round with a nicely modifies Skyline with a fibreglass bonnet and he hasn't had any trouble yet.

If Non ADR approved / Mod plated

  • Accidents will negate any Insurance claims
  • Impact with pedestrians may be worse (and negate any insurance)
  • IMHO - the CF bonnet look is tacky and 90's
  • oh and attracts attention and defects
