chris1600dat
Hi skyliners, going through trying to figure out why my r32 gtr is stuck in 4wd. Low speed turning you can hear and feel the front wheels trying to turn and the tyres scrub under the force. I used to have a 4wd controller but this has been removed. Even tried to take out the 4wd fuse and it still feels like 4wd. I have never seen the torque meter move since owning the car for a few weeks. I have done some research checked the rear reservoir and it's topped up. Any helps or places to start checking would help a lot. I turned the car on and tried to look for the leds in the atessa computer but nothing showed up. scotty nm35
Sounds like you have a 2 way diff in the front. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/446212-r32-gtr-stuck-in-4wd-feels-like-locked-diff/#findComment-7353892 Share on other sites
chris1600dat
Possible the previous owner put this in? He did use it for super sprints and track it. Any way to check for sure? Jack it up and spin the wheels? Blackkers
I'm not 100% sure on this but a quick google would tell you. The factory front diff is open which would cause each wheel to spin opposite directions when spun by hand with the car in gear. a 2 way wouldn't want to spin in gear, but in neutral both wheels would spin the same direction. Have a go and report back edit: Thinking I might be wrong now... someone weigh in please Edited July 30, 2014 by Blackkers Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/446212-r32-gtr-stuck-in-4wd-feels-like-locked-diff/#findComment-7353991 Share on other sites
blind_elk
I had a similar problem in my GTS4 many years ago - from memory, I think it was a problem with the TPS plug. chris1600dat
If the throttle position sensor is out does it think the car is driving faster then it is? Is there anyway to test? chris1600dat
I removed the 4wd fuse today and the 4wd light did not come on.. I am guessing it's something electrical if it thinks it's still active without the fuse...? chris1600dat
All good, the fuze triggered the warning light tonight and drives in rwd.. Turning and the feeling of locked diff is still there so it could be mechanical.. Hopefully the front diff hasn't shat itself Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/446212-r32-gtr-stuck-in-4wd-feels-like-locked-diff/#findComment-7356238 Share on other sites
tricstar
Mm. Front diff definately a possibility or maybe transfer case problem? Could it be the transfer actuator? Easiest way to narrow it down even more would be take out the front shaft and see if that makes any diff? I have also had similar symptoms with wrong TPS. But that's not what you have.
