Greetings SAU

My r33 has come up with this annoying idle issue. From a cold start it tends to do it once I give it a slight rev or if it's been running for a minute or so. It sometimes goes away (easy to tell when it's got the sluggish idle compared to how it's suppose to sound)

It also changes the way it takes off it feels as if it's struggling to move, I haven't tried to hit boost while it does this, It also seems to happen when it's warm too (but less frequent and goes away when revs get above 2.5-3000).

However, when I was driving it the other day would of been hot as it had been running for a while, I hit boost in it then it just randomly stalled while I was driving. I tried to start it again it would start fine but then the revs would drop and it would stall pretty much 2 seconds in. I had to pull over because it pretty much would just keep stalling. If I was to rev it to stop it from stalling it wouldn't like it (kind of sounded like extra air was coming out the exhaust or something similiar) I sat there with it off for about 20 minutes to turn it back on to the same issue I was able to drive it home but it struggled.

I hope this makes sense I don't really know how to explain it that well

i just blocked it off and it happened again as i was slowing down to a red light, i pretty much had no power and the revs would drop pulled over and it magically went away a few minutes later

if there was a air leak would that effect me in boost? because 90% of the time i actually take the car out it will hold boost and drive fine. just these random incidents where i could have had it on load or just slowing down to a light

i do notice how the flutter is more 'pshshshshsh' if its low revs but if its high revs its a 'pshhhhhshshshshsh'

i noticed that the a/c belt has torn itself does that have any other significance other than a/c?

thanks

also what i meant by when it has no power is its telling me im on 2k revs when my turbo is spooled well above it its like all the air is just coming out my pod filter

That makes so little sense it's not funny.

    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
    • So, now all you need to do is connect the 2 or 3x 12v feeds into the unit to permanent 12v, ACC 12V and IGN 12V that you can find in the spot behind the stereo, and the earth, and then it will switch on with the car.
