Hey all

I've being doing A LOT of research and wondering what are the best exhausts for a v36 sedan? I went and spoke to my local import exhaust shop he offered for 1500 custom exhaust, I've seen some for sale in the states ( Top Speed pro 1 ) landed for under $1000 and they seem pretty decent by the YouTube videos I look up G37 sedans silly Americans, Also came accros a company called ' meisterschaft ' now there exhaust sounds amazing and looks pretty good as well butttttt.... the price to ship is steep from the company don't know why.

what do people that have ??? custom or imported exhausts what are your thoughts and recommendations?

If you go custom, find someone who knows what they are doing. Most exhaust shops will just bend up some piping to suit, weld in an 'off the shelf' muffler, charge you a bucket of cash and call it a 'custom' system.

IMHO you would be better off buying a system from a company that has taken the time to tune a system to suit the car.

I have a custom exhaust for my V36 350GT Sedan. I think it's great, sounds awesome and unique and it didn't cost as much as a shelf. Meisterschaft is awesome...if you can afford it get it. Build quality is flawless and it sounds so f**king awesome. It's expensive because of the quality of it. No BS.

My setup is Stillen hfc 2.5" to a Magnaflow 2.5" x-pipe then dual pipes to HKS Legamax muffler. The only thing about the muffler is that it is a 2".....I bought the wrong one. The X-Pipe takes out most of the noise.

No resonators needed as the X-pipe takes out most of the sound. At high revs, it's loud enough for me. At low revs (3k?) you can hear the VQ sound but not noisy at all. No drone whatsoever.

If I could do it again, I would probably try the Fujitsubo Legalis and get FI HFC instead of the Stillen. However I was told the FI and Stillen has Magnaflow core so it shouldn't make much of a difference. Could be wrong.

If you want a bit more flow (and therefore, performance, no matter ow little a gain you get out of it), then I don't really have any recommendations I can make.

But if you just want a nice note, like I did, then I can wholeheartedly recommend the Megan Racing muffler that I got. Bolt-on and have fun. They only had the burnt titanium look tips on it though, which I wasn't a fan of, so I chopped them off and replaced them with some nice stainless steel oval tips. I believe they now offer it with conventional polished tips so you won't have to go to that extent like I did.

I couldn't agree with you more sonicii (I've been there, done that... not just once... but twice!) - won't be doing that again.

Stick with an off the shelf cat back exhaust system from a reputable company that has invested the $$$ into R&D.

I had Andrew from AM Performance do the cat back on my 370GT Sedan.

In hindsight, I think it's probably better to buy one from a company that has done a load of R&D to perfect their product but Andrew does top notch work and I'm happy to support local business when they're great people.

I'm also happy with what he produced :)

However with the aussie dollar being so piss poor at the moment, I'm not sure buying from overseas is a great idea right now....

One advantage of getting a custom exhaust made is you can always go back to the shop to get it tweaked if you're not happy. Just try to be as specific as possible when you tell them what you want otherwise you'll end up paying even more.

    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
    • Hi.. Just another problem. So maybe you can help. I(my mechanic) done swap from my RB20DE NEO to RB25DET NEO. Everything is OK but we have a boost cut. Coils/Plugs are ok...AFM is ok. ECU is ok. I have Walbro 255 but it "changed" sound few months ago(you can hear it ouside) you did not hear that when it was new(maybe faulty?) Sooo...what now? What can cause this boost cut? It is even when you standing still...
