May be old news to some here, but i just read on gtr.co.uk forums that HKS have a new version of the 2530, - 2530 Kansai.

see - http://www.gtr.co.uk/forum/upload/showthre...ead.php?t=24528

Here is a quote from the page:

I would imagine the new designs make use of the ported shroud they developed for the GT-SS and -RS, they are presumably keeping the name 2530 as it is the most popular upgrade turbo, and well regarded as the best suited to the RB26 for general applications

Anyone know anything about them?

Yeah, going by that article, those are just GT-SS and GT-RS turbos, flanged for a bolt-on application for RB20/RB25...

You can see the ported shroud on the GT-SS in that photo...

No new releases for GTR application unfortunately :)

2350 Kansai...never heard of it...nor does it say anything in the article about it.

I was thinking it maybe a inhouse developed turbo variant by HKS Kansai but they are just down the road from me and I haven't heard them say anything.

Kai is also not Kansai so don't confuse the words...:)

they should be GT2530 kai but not GT-SS

well i can't read jap but chinese word, about 50% of the acticle, They do mention about:

compare the GT2530 kai & GT-RS, the low ~ mid range is better. It's good for Rb25 owner which want response, specially AT car and car which is heavy....

anyone who can read Jap??

I have heard that the GT-RS is rated at 400ps but has better response than the 2540

will the exhaust dump on these T3 models match up to the standard patern?

Im seriously considering one of these for my RB20 (which is making 300rwhp with a 2530) - how much mid range would you expect to loose with one of these?

I want to make about 350rwhp and considering the GT-RS flows 20% more than the 2530, i guess on paper i should be able to produce 350-360rwhp.

would that be possible? has anyone had experiences with these even if its on an SR20 or RB26?

yeah i read a recent article in Zoom i think, where they strapped a heap of turbos to a CA motor and the GTRS was dam impressive... i havent read a bad report about them on any motor.

and considering its response is similar to the 2530 but flows more than the 2540 it sounds like an awesome upgrade.

I have a friend living in japan at the moment, so i will either get him to source one for me or check them out myself when im next over there.

they are charging about $5000 retail over here for them! thats crazy.

Actually it wasnt that mag, it was some white S13 with an SR20 with R34 GTR rims, looked nice but i cant remember if it was Zoom/HPI/Speed or whatever....the article actually had a table comparing wheel sizes and A/R housings.... i think it may have even had a dyno printout of the GT-RS overlayed with a 2530 printout...

oh that sounds great, i might have to get you to fax it to me :D

if everything i am reading is right, then i think im going to give my mate a call this week and get one sent over soon.

i just dont want it to sacrafice alot of that usable mid range the 2530 delivers, im very happy with this turbo, but i have been bitten by the bug, and 300rwhp just doesnt feel quick enough anymore.

hows yours going roy?

    • Hope you aren't too sore after that one, might take a day or 2 to notice yet and I guess it is a loooooong drive home. On the bright side, tube frame front end is a thing at superlap, right?

    • The chart of front pressure to rear pressure (with one being on the x axis and the other being on the y axis) is not a straight line on a typical proportioning valve. At lower pressures there is a straight line with one slope, and at higher pressures that changes to a lower slope. That creates a bend in the line at that pressure, called the knee point. If you do not change the proportionng as the pressure gets higher, you will suffer excessive pressure (at one end of the car or the other, depending on which way you look at the proportioning action) and then get lockups at that end. The HFM BM57, from my memory of previous discussions, is based on the BM57 from a different car (to a Skyline), with a different requirement for the location of the knee point and the distribution of pressure front to rear, and so is not a good choice for an upgrade on a Skyline. Here's a couple of links to some old posts, one from here, one from elsewhere. A lot of it pertains to adjustable prop valves, but the idea is the same. There are plenty of discussions on here about this issue from al the many years of people wanting a cheap/accessible option. https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/ https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/
    • Yeah dunno why johhny posted that here with no context, just post on FB/insta bro where he put it up?  Laine had an off at T4 during Thurs prac, he's ok, car is less than perfect, they are done for the weekend, he can fill in the rest. Bando also binned it like 100m up the road.
