my stock... STOCK gts-t has beaten as many rexies as it's lost to and this is taking into account that every rexy I have raced has at least had an exhaust. My car is standard boost, turbo, cooler, exhaust. Even my rims and suspension are standard. Ive even got the standard flare!!! So if my r33 can take modified rexy's what makes you think

"how come most wrx munch on u guys??? da only car i know dat will eat up the wrx is da gtr."

GTR's will munch rexy's - GTS-T's just eat em.

PS. Franks is right about the handling and grip. I didnt like handling of the rexy at all when I took one for a little drive.

oh my!! who really gives a flying hoot??? This car is better than that car...this car does this qtr Mile... blah blah blah!

I buy a car coz it suits my wants, my rex suited my wants until I drove a GTR, the realised I obviously wanted more :).

NoLimit, if it's a WRX you want, Then why didn't you buy one???

Nolimit...Firstly think about why ppl think you sound like a school kid before asking them to take chill pills. Perhaps your views and arguments are expressed in a manner that others conceive as being 'school kid' like. :)

I've looked after and driven a MY00 rex with about 20g's spent on performance and much preferred my r33 Gtst although it is much slower. Maybe I'm biased, but i think Skylines are much more refined and feel better to drive.

Having owned and driven lots of both, if you actually sit back and look at things then you realise both are awesome cars!

But comparing them is like comparing apples to oranges..... IMHO you cant compare a MY94-MY00 to a GTR. Different price ranges and the standard rex is equal to the GTST.

Personally i took the rex, AFTER the skyline and my rex is quicker / newer/ better handling. Thats not to say the skyline wasnt just as nice. Maybe a tad slower (0.5-7sec over 1/4) but both had there advantages AND disadvantages.

Both are great cars for the money and offer heaps of fun. Neither are perfect!

If i had my way i would have the STI, 34 GTR and the EVO 8 in the garage :)

And lets leave the MY01+ outta this. Subaru have gone down hill big time, especially since the MY03 :( Ugly cars arent they :(

i know i sound like a d$#k head but i said what i said before because ive driven a r33 gtst and a r32 gts4 turbo. they both had exhaust and were running on 12psi but i felt that the wrx was quicker with the same mods and running the same amount of psi.

i know u line guys will argue but i aint here to stir up trouble. just wanted to share with you guys what i thought of da new wrx. i respect what u guys have to say about the cars but dont say crap about me when u guys dont know me.

No Limit,

would you go onto a commodore owners forum and say that skylines are better than commodores and expect a warm welcome ????????

Its like speaking to Bush and telling him that Bin Laden is better....... don't expect a warm welcome over putting a negative on something that we are passionate about....

whether i know you or not... it's not a smart move....

and you seem surprised over some of the comments people are saying???????

Oh im sorry, are you trying sound tough now e-thug? jerkit.gif

Thing is, not only are his comments inflammatory, but they are stupid. Nothing wrong with making an argument backed up by some evidence, but when you just make claims with no basis in reality why are you suprised when people jump on you?

Hey, that cars nearly as ugly as a WRX.

I don't understand the wrx > gtst claim.

Really stock for stock they seem pretty equal in

a straight line from my experience. WRX gets

the jump but once the line hits 3 rd it pulls away.

4wd vs more power. In performance terms very

dif cars but both similar acceleration. But, gtst wins

cos it also looks full sik bro! (yuk that felt so unnatural

to type that last bit)

jeez! guys settle down, it was only an opinion

both wrx's and lines are cult cars in the performace scene, and for good reasons they are both fast refined sports cars. Subaru are newbies in the performce scene compared to nissan, and they deffinatly got something right when they came up with the wrx. its a nice car.

i think this has all been blown out of proportion, completly.

If he like wrx's more then let him get 1, the less ppl in Lines the better i reken, would u guys like to c skylines like we see commonwhores????

they are both nice cars leave it at that.

What did I hate most about my old WRX? Terminal understeer and lack of feed back from the chassis.

Frankly I couldn't care less how fast it is on a straight line. It helps but that's not what makes a good car a good car. The WRX handles crap. Lots of grip but you don't want to push it cause it's not inviting. The chassis feels flimsy. Skyline chassis feels far more inviting. It inspires confidence in the driver and makes you want to push it that much more. Everything from the skyline has better feed back. Step on the brakes on the rex and a skyline and you'll see what I mean.

And don't get me started on the whole understeer thing. Yeah spend $XXXX to fix it... screw that idea! I spent a bit fiddling with the WRX suspension and wasn't satisfied. I spend very little on the skyline and was way more satisfied. I much perfer a car that's built to a higher standard than go through the heachaches of modifying.

That said an R32 GTR stock would beat a 2003/2004 WRX. ( Track. 1/4 Mile )

Dont think so, BMI tested new evo,rex with a R32 GTR and a few other cars, wrx, evo walked all over the R32 on the track. Dont forget you are still comparing 15 year old technology/engine with new technology/engine.

But the R34 still conquered :( In fairness though, it was a bog stock R32 GT-R Vspec (no suspension tweaks let alone power tweaks) and the manufacturers have been pushing more and more kw's despite the gentlemen's agreement.

I think a lightly tuned R32 GT-R (ie. bringing it up to today's standards) would still give the Evo a run for its money (and would have been a fairer comparison).

    • I had 3 counts over the last couple of weeks once where i got stranded at a jdm paint yard booking in some work. 2nd time was moving the car into the drive way for the inspection and the 3rd was during the inspection for the co2 leak test. Fix: 1st, car off for a hour and half disconnected battery 10mins 4th try car started 2nd, 5th try started 3rd, countless time starting disconnected battery dude was under the hood listening to the starting sequence fuel pump ect.
    • This. As for your options - I suggest remote mounting the Nissan sensor further away on a length of steel tube. That tube to have a loop in it to handle vibration, etc etc. You will need to either put a tee and a bleed fitting near the sensor, or crack the fitting at the sensor to bleed it full of oil when you first set it up, otherwise you won't get the line filled. But this is a small problem. Just needs enough access to get it done.
    • The time is always correct. Only the date is wrong. It currently thinks it is January 19. Tomorrow it will say it is January 20. The date and time are ( should be ! ) retrieved from the GPS navigation system.
    • Buy yourself a set of easy outs. See if they will get a good bite in and unthread it.   Very very lucky the whole sender didn't let go while on the track and cost you a motor!
    • Well GTSBoy, prepare yourself further. I did a track day with 1/2 a day prep on Friday, inpromptu. The good news is that I got home, and didn't drive the car into a wall. Everything seemed mostly okay. The car was even a little faster than it was last time. I also got to get some good datalog data too. I also noticed a tiny bit of knock which was (luckily?) recorded. All I know is the knock sensors got recalibrated.... and are notorious for false knock. So I don't know if they are too sensitive, not sensitive enough... or some other third option. But I reduced timing anyway. It wasn't every pull through the session either. Think along the lines of -1 degree of timing for say, three instances while at the top of 4th in a 20 minute all-hot-lap session. Unfortunately at the end of session 2... I noticed a little oil. I borrowed some jack stands and a jack and took a look under there, but as is often the case, messing around with it kinda half cleaned it up, it was not conclusive where it was coming from. I decided to give it another go and see how it was. The amount of oil was maybe one/two small drops. I did another 20 minute session and car went well, and I was just starting to get into it and not be terrified of driving on track. I pulled over and checked in the pits and saw this: This is where I called it, packed up and went home as I live ~20 min from the track with a VERY VERY CLOSE EYE on Oil Pressure on the way home. The volume wasn't much but you never know. I checked it today when I had my own space/tools/time to find out what was going on, wanted to clean it up, run the car and see if any of the fittings from around the oil filter were causing it. I have like.. 5 fittings there, so I suspected one was (hopefully?) the culprit. It became immediately apparent as soon as I looked around more closely. 795d266d-a034-4b8c-89c9-d83860f5d00a.mp4       This is the R34 GTT oil sender connected via an adapter to an oil cooler block I have installed which runs AN lines to my cooler (and back). There's also an oil temp sensor on top.  Just after that video, I attempted to unthread the sensor to see if it's loose/worn and it disintegrated in my hand. So yes. I am glad I noticed that oil because it would appear that complete and utter catastrophic engine failure was about 1 second of engine runtime away. I did try to drill the fitting out, and only succeeded in drilling the middle hole much larger and now there's a... smooth hole in there with what looks like a damn sleeve still incredibly tight in there. Not really sure how to proceed from here. My options: 1) Find someone who can remove the stuck fitting, and use a steel adapter so it won't fatigue? (Female BSPT for the R34 sender to 1/8NPT male - HARD to find). IF it isn't possible to remove - Buy a new block ($320) and have someone tap a new 1/8NPT in the top of it ($????) and hope the steel adapter works better. 2) Buy a new block and give up on the OEM pressure sender for the dash entirely, and use the supplied 1/8 NPT for the oil temp sender. Having the oil pressure read 0 in the dash with the warning lamp will give me a lot of anxiety driving around. I do have the actual GM sensor/sender working, but it needs OBD2 as a gauge. If I'm datalogging I don't actually have a readout of what the gauge is currently displaying. 3) Other? Find a new location for the OEM sender? Though I don't know of anywhere that will work. I also don't know if a steel adapter is actually functionally smart here. It's clearly leveraged itself through vibration of the motor and snapped in half. This doesn't seem like a setup a smart person would replicate given the weight of the OEM sender. Still pretty happy being lucky for once and seeing this at the absolute last moment before bye bye motor in a big way, even if an adapter is apparently 6 weeks+ delivery and I have no way to free the current stuck/potentially destroyed threads in the current oil block.
