Cams Secondary Bonnet Catchment

Hey guys, been way to long since I've driven a road car on track. Preparing a car for the track tomorrow morning and thought I'd ask what is the go with modern cars and secondary bonnet catchments rules for cams?

Do newer cars that release the bonnet from inside the car count as the first catchment, then second catchment is manually releasing the bonnet from under the hood with your hands count as the second?

If this does not count through cams...can you use a tie down Rachet system or does it have to be a metal cable type?

I know what cams say, but scrutineers always have their own interpretation at the track so asking what you guys reckon is the go.

It depends what you are doing, but if it is a "speed" event, ie not racing, the standard system is OK. There was plenty of confusion with scruits early on with these rules but it has all been settled for a while now.

be fitted with two separate fasteners on any bonnet or other panel where the leading edge can be raised. The

fastening systems shall meet the following requirements:

(a) to be deemed separate, a fastening system shall continue to function if the second system is removed in its

entirety;

(b) they shall be of adequate strength and limited extensibility;

© they shall simultaneously hold the bonnet or panel closed or as an alternative for speed events only, one

fastening system shall hold the bonnet or panel closed and its release shall allow the bonnet or panel to be

raised to provide access to a second fastening system fitted within the vehicle. The second fastening system

shall prevent the bonnet or panel from being raised more than 150mm from the fully closed position.

In a speed event, a road registered series production car fitted with an unmodified original equipment twostage

fastening system shall be exempt from these requirements;

Yeah at some point someone wised up and realised what was being implemented by some scrutineers was out of line with what most people were willing to do, ie take your road car and make it unroadworthy by drilling holes in the bonnet and attaching posts and wires etc. It wasn't doing anyone any favours and for the first time in a long time CAMS did something useful.

It is only road registered cars that are exempt from the requirement.
