Hey guys,

I've recently moved across to Melbourne from Perth and I was wondering if there is a R34 GTR club in Melbourne on facebook or on here that I could contact other members on.

I've noticed quite a few more imports over this way and I've also been made aware of how strict this place is so I've got a few questions to ask if anyone has the time to help out.

I know Racepace is meant to be one of the best skyline specialists for mods / repairs ect unless there's someone better out there that I am not aware of....

Also I've noticed car theft is HUGE here so aside from a car alarm, does anyone else have a GPS tracker in their cars?

Any info would be great!

Cheers all,

Ben

There is a Skylines scene, not sure where you could possibly go to get details however.....

As for theft, where do you live? Some areas are bad for it, some areas it's non-existent.

The best protection against car theft is a good insurance policy. If a tea leaf wants your car bad enough, ain't nothing you are going to be able to do to stop him from taking it.

Oh, and welcome to Melbourne. Be sure to leave your west side shoulder chip at the door ;)

Hi Ben,

My partner just made that move with her Skyline and knows how you feel :)

I have a GPS tracker in my car but I concur with the above, if some flog wants your stuff you can't do shit about it...get a good insurance policy and the rest is auxillary protection. Cars are getting stolen from locked up basement carparks these days and towed away with flat beds. It's sad but that's the world we live in. Some 34 owners even enlist the help of security guards ;)

Keep an eye on events section and check out SAU Vic, the paid membership club, as they do some motorsport and social events you might like.

Not sure about 34R specific clubs but could be one around, heavily guarded of course.

Cheers for the info guys. I don't carry the WA chip your referring to so that's fine. There are a few pros and cons in both states so I'm taking the good with the bad.

My car has a car alarm and gps tracker and insured through just car with an agreed value so if someone takes it then so be it. It's shit that there are people here that want to steal peoples pride and joy however it's like that anywhere you go.

As far as the club thing goes I am still apart of an R34 gtr club and the people there were great. Most are in the SAU community which was why i asked the question about a similar group in Vic.

    • It's generally best practise to run 1x run without VCT enabled, then 1x run enabled till redline. Overlay the two torque graphs and you'll find the desired RPM to turn off VCT. Sometimes, it might be even worthwhile turning off VCT earlier control torque/cylinder pressure and using VCT purely to spool the turbo.
    • They sell them in Malaysia for about $4
    • First time I ever have issues with Amazon, but my wife often tells me to keep an eye out for fakes. It finally got me. I wrapped up the conversation with Gates. The gentlemen I was talking to seemed to hate his job but the response time on their technical support is outstanding. He stated that the hose is marked with some variation of "SAE J30R10" but that if you only purchase a 1 foot length like I did, it is possible to get a cut between markings and have a blank hose. To no ones surprise, he stated the swelling and "gummyness" isn't normal and to replace/buy from somewhere else (He mentioned NAPA). I'll toss a small end of the new one in gas for a few days before pulling the hanger out again, just to be safe.  Hose should arrive Monday. For those running multiple pump in tank hangers, you know the joys of getting them out and back in. I'm surprised I haven't destroyed my level float yet.  Lastly once I wrap all of this up, I'm planning on hitting the dyno again in 2 weeks while I'm on vacation. I realized recently that my VCT is set to turn off at 5000RPM. I'm surprised it wasn't increased while I was on the dyno last. I'm expecting I can increase it to ~6500RPM, if not more. Should hopefully get another 15-20kw out of it. I also want him to revisit my knock thresholds. I'm occasionally getting false knock around 3000rpm.
    • I don't believe you.
    • All jokes aside, OP they're just called R32 oem rims as you said. The Nissan engineers back in the late 80's loosely copied the design from the Koya Driftek which was designed and produced about 18 years later.
