Hybrid intercooler kit Chrome plating coming off pipes

Recommended Posts

im so mad with my cooler kit rite now..

got a hybrid one for an r34 gt-t thru that damn group buy ages ago

just started installing it thise weekend

so far i have been working on r33 instructions that they gave me which is quite different

had to make my own brakets as theirs do not fit!

been working on it for 2 full days straight and now i cant get the bonnet to closed as they still hit fan blades even tho ive cut them enuf already

oh and not to mention asked for red silcone back then and got red and they was told they had no blue left so.....

not happy

what should i do!?

this thing is f**king my car up

Power digger actually have an R34 there that they are sponsoring and the cooler they put on it fit nicely.

Plates are ONFILE its a yellow R34 GTT.

It seems that there is alot of mixed reaction and fortune with these kits.

All the kits ive had personal experience with went it with only the slightest modification and they havn't had any problems at all.

Maybe its just luck of the draw.

Yeah i had a fun experience with mine as well Driver, 5 hours my ass... I've had mine on for about 2 months now and the piping is already starting to bubble, its not fazing me that much not to concerned with the look as long as its doing its job!! The thing i was most peeved about was there was no return for the standard boost solenoid in the in let manifold and when i rang powerdigger they just said yeah you'll have to that yourself. I did take the opportunity to remind him that this was a "kit" custom built for R33's so.... That got me no where so out came the drill.

Works good now thou so can't complain really. And had a Link ECU installed the other day and the dyno tuner and i where both impressed with the combined packages result so all well that ends well... for the time being.

    • Thanks man, I appreciate that. I'll keep it in mind going forward, important to know.
    • I strongly recommend anyone playing with cars chasing anything electric, get a basic understanding of using a DMM, and about 12V DC systems. They're REALLY easy, you only need to know V=IR and how to apply it, and you can work out what your readings should be doing. For a simple check on a light bulb, you're looking for 12V at the positive to the light, a near zero resistance to ground, and then for a small resistance across the globe when unplugged. If one of those values isn't right, you won't get what you need. Now if they're all okay, and you then plug the light in, and it still won't work, you now do a voltage check across the globe positive to negative. It should effectively read full battery voltage. If it's not, especially if it's quite low, the age old V=IR starts to be able to be thought about, you now know though, for the current flowing, there isn't much voltage for the given resistance, but the rest of that V has to be dropping somewhere else. So now do a voltage check from ground of globe, to ground of car, then do voltage check from positive of battery, to positive of the light connector. Things like a high resistance in a wire/join will start to "steal" voltage on you. So now step back through which ever wire, until you find the voltage drop is non existent, you're now before what ever is steal your voltage for example.   There's plenty of YouTube videos, but really worth understanding some V=IR, and doing some even theoretical numbers to start to understand it. Then you'll know what the DMM is telling you.
