one more early morning then i finally get a sleep in.

gotta finish modifying my chimney so i can start lighting the fire... so bloody cold lately

Yeah I've got a old Jarrahdale wood fire too. I normally run a pedestal fan on it like a supercharger. Even when you close the valves it makes for a way better combustion chamber (hemispherical) and dissipates the heat round the whole house. The performance is amazing from a two valve heater. Surprised the cat hasn't caught on fire he's fully old and loves that sh#t.

ive got a double doored model in an enclosed brick chimney in the middle of the lounge room. ive put vents in at the ground and top to circulate over the fire and get the extra heat back that i lost last season up into the roof. last season we got none of the heat from the top or sides... it all escaped away.  ive already cut out the bricks, just need to finish the vents then plaster up.

A dogs leg in the chimney is also a good fix and helps the chimney hold heat especially in a two story. I'm a sheety by trade and what you've done sounds awesome. Check out TheBlackNobility Charles hotel on you tube. Last gig I ever played. The guitarist was insane and teaches at cosmic.

You've inspired me to get back on the Roland and have a crack. Through the 901's and subs of course!

need to walk around the house doing figure 8's to sort it out

any advice ideas for the diff? What bands have you played in?

sorry got no advice. Corey is the man you should talk too

never played in a band. just learnt a few riffs etc and i play Rocksmith sometimes too which is pretty fun

Cool like Kerry king from slayer. I've got a mega old pearl. DW pedals. Paiste 2002s and the old Frankenstein writing paiste sound formulas. The 2002s are the same as Bonham, moon and Ian paice from deep purple used to play. I've met Ian paice, Dave lombardo, zak Wilde, jojo Mayer, Dom famularo, Jimmy degrasso, sepultura, and what not I used to be pretty good and have a few signed drum heads at home.!!!

DSC_0351.JPGDSC_0352.JPGDSC_0353.JPGDSC_0354.JPGwas so lucky to meet Jeff hanneman before he died. He was totally drunk. Haha. I met cyco myco from suicidal tendencies as well. Haven't played in anger for about 5 years mainly due to being old and the knees. can't be assed dragging the kit around anymore anyway. That's mainly why I wanted to join Sau. Missing playing in the bands and wanted to talk to like minded people about the car. I'm no mechanic but love nuts and bolts!

Hmm makes sense, that's what I was thinking too much extension and not enough compression in the shocks which would coincide with the longer travel and higher spring rate. When you gradually build up the boost and launch it sweet on the street is the only time you notice it. The old diff oil was clean as. I was also thinking due to getting cold between runs that it was at its minimum viscosity but the thinner the oil it should make its way into clutch packs better?

Winding the coilovers up wont change the spring rate, there fix at the manufacturers spec. Further travel is made harder by more fliud transfer, now u have more fluid either side of the piston its harder for the piston to move.

Made ur diff has seen better days? Our cars arnt exactly spring chickens. Years of abuse and the diffs is saying "no i dont want to" lol or on the other side of the scale mabe its not been used hard enough so wasnt quite working as it should? My mates vn ss had a issue with the diff, wouldnt put any power down just spun one wheel. Changed the oil and took it for a sqirt around the block trying to get the diff to work and all of sudden it just did, locked up and holy crap it hauled ass. Been fine ever since and leaves 11's if used in anger

The top drum head is a used one signed by Dave lombardo (slayer) The second I got signed from Ian paice (deep purple). The last one is from when sepultura toured in 99 the whole band. I scored the Ian paice for the father in-law and he had it hanging in the living room up till he died then was given back to me. Got another pair of sticks signed by will Calhoun (living colour)

Cool thanks for the advice. The rears were bald inside when I got it so no wonder it torched them both evenly. It performed well today on the street. The car is at 3000rpm at 110 in 5th which is pretty annoying so I would assume it has 4:1.1 never had any issues till I lifted I't and changed the tyres. By the way it behaves I'd assume it's a 1.5 way l.s.d. Alot of people reckon the Achilles atr sport 2 are slippery tyres so should spin both easily. I checked all the mounts and bushes when it was up on the hoist at my mates work about 3 months ago and they seemed all good? More crawling around on the back required! Should be easy to fit in around 11hr days at work. Building a silencer that has dual 6" inlets to a 10" outlet 30" diameter 96" long. Double laminate 3.2mm thick body. Back is sore, I am old. I did the diff oil ride height and tyres all at the same time so makes it a bit harder to trouble shoot when it was all good before?

    • It was a great, but typical track day, and some VB was ingested at the night time debrief 🤪
    • And so, to round this out, I couldn't be happier to confirm @MBS206 has decided to buy the car. He drove down from sunny QLD with a trailer last week and it is off to its new home today. I'll let Matt confirm on next steps but I understand broadly that the plan is to leave it pretty much as is, and just get some quality wheel time with a nicely balanced car that is pretty much track ready. There are a few a jobs still to be done first but nothing too major and I think its a very smart buy Dinner last night at the Paragon with a round of VBs (mostly) for Neil
    • Well, 50 pages and the end of a chapter for this car. We took it out for a shakedown at Wakie yesterday, and everything went well. There were a couple of niggles: - Oil cooler fitting leak - tightened, cleaned, stopped leaking - Radiator cap overflow fitting was leaking....Mark called it, the overflow fitting was threaded in and not tight....tightened, tested and held pressure - Small oil leak at the rear of the block, probably the turbo oil feed - too hot to get at it comfortably but probably just needs to be nipped up - leak at the driver's side rear brake line where it meets the hardline. Fitting wasn't loose, so Matt backed it off and back on, no further leaks - there's also a leak somewhere on the top of the fuel tank, maybe that cross over fuel line - that was has been left to fix when its on a hoist Otherwise than those niggles the car went great, turned great and stopped great so it was a very successful day out. I'm always really nervous when a car first hits the track after a long break, especially with a brand new engine as well but it was great. VID-20251011-WA0007.mp4  Big thanks to @The Bogan who dropped by and helped out, @MBS206 and my nephew Lachlan the apprentice.  Neil's wife Mel also surprised the hell out of all of us by dropping by; she's up in Tamworth these days but was travelling to Melbourne so had plausible deniability for turning up at the garage, it was great to see her but also obviously a bit sad all round.

    • Unsolicited advice? Keep the engine as close to stock as you can. Nothing wrong with adding some boost and making a little more power, but given where you are, you really don't want to try to make it into a monster. I can't imagine the roads are up to it, and the lack of locla support when it grenades will be a ball ache. FWIW, If there is a dyno around that you can access, then brand new injectors are a good idea, which will lead you to (at least) putting a Nistune in it, which will allow you to put an R35 AFM on it, all of which will make it possible to make it much much nicer to drive and live with.
