Scando
Hi, I've done a lot of searching and haven't been able to find an answer. Can anyone tell me what type of signal the speed sensor on a R34 GT-t manual gearbox puts out? I'm using this gearbox for a conversion in a 240Z and need to know what type of signal it puts out so that I know which inputs to use on my Haltech. Thanks, Shane Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/457747-r34-gt-t-gearbox-speed-sensor-output/ Share on other sites
GTSBoy
+/- 3v approximately sine wave (or saw tooth). I might be slightly wrong on the voltage. The Nissan box electrical senders output that sort of AC signal to the dash cluster, where the speedo head converts it into a 0-5v square wave that goes to the ECU and other CUs. I know the 0-5v is correct - I'm a little less sure right now of he size of the AC signal. Will not be more than +/-3v though, probably less. Scando
Thanks very much. Looks like the Haltech will only accept speed input as digital so I'll need to get some kind of analogue to digital converter. Hopefully I can find something cheaper than the one haltech sell for $300! Hopefully I can find something cheaper than the one haltech sell for $300! Define "digital". The 0-5v square wave is effectively digital. The Haltech will probably work with that. There is a wire from the dash to the ECU carrying that signal. All you have to do is hook it up to try it. Scando
Yeah, the square wave input is what it requires but it's going in a 240Z with a racepak dash so I don't have the skyline dash to convert the signal for me. I've found Wolf sell a signal converter for around $80 so that's more reasonable.
