R34 Headlight Issuss

Hey Everyone,

Just picked up a 1998 R34 GTT and on my first cruise some others noticed my headlights playing up.

Currently my drivers side light is not on.

During the cruise, it would change between drivers side out, passangers side out, or both one.

I checked both the fuses by swapping them to the working light slot and no issues.

Is there anything before the fuse box that could cause the headlights to go out on different sides randomly?

Going to get new bulbs this afternoon regardless.

PS, only my driving lights have the issue. Parkers and High Beams are unaffected

If the lights going out are switching between the two headlights, it's not bulb. Have you checked the connections/wiring at the bulb? Factory xenon or halogen?

Yeah I didn't think it was the bulbs. Want some new white lights anyway so I'm grabbing a set shortly.

I've had a quick look around the area, checked everything was tight etc.

Is there a way to check what came factory? It was imported from Japan last month and has Halogens in it now, but from what I was reading imports get converted to halogen anyway so I dont know if it was xenon factory or not

Just noticed then when putting new bulbs in.

The headlight housing does have xenon embossed in it. Not sure if that means anything

Turns out it was just a loose ground making all the issues. Took it back to the place that complied it and they re-wired the headlights again and was good to go

Makes sense. They had to convert your headlights to halogen for compliance.
