Hey there guys,

just thinking about the purchase of the Stagea RS Four, but i can only find Automatics which apparently use the Dualmatic M-ATx 4spd Auto.

Now that all fine and dandy, but i would like to know if there is any chance anyone has done / knows of the manual conversion ?!? and what is needed : ie type of box, and if it needs to have different shafts.??

As i'm lead to believe that the RS Four is 4WD Similar Setup to the GTR's i believe.

If anyone can help with any information i would be greatful.

Regards,

Ashley Neal.

There's a fella that is just in the middle of doing an auto to manula conversion on a RS Four.

Have a look here:

Doesn't give much info, but maybe you can pick his brains a little.

Well I can tell you that there is a HEAP of work in coverting to manual. PM Gary1 (who is the guy Jayson was referring to), his should just about be finished by now, if it isn't already, and is also in Brisbane (southside). I'm sure he'd be happy to help out, no doubt he'd be happy to meet another Stagea owner

Anyway, this is all from memory, but here goes:

He used an R32 GTR box (reco'd), but you need the R34 GTR clutch master and slave, R34 GTR pedal box (R33 doesn't fit), the firewall and (I think) trans tunnel need to be modified, as Nissan used different metalwork auto to manual for some reason. I think you also need Stagea interior trim, as I think the GTT manual console doesn't fit, and you also need the Stagea dash (GTR one is different). There was something about the tailshaft too, but it's not a bad idea to replace both diffs anyway, as from memory the autos run 4.3:1, instead of 4.111:1. There may also be some wiring changes too, but I have no farkin idea what they were :)

All in all, yes it's doable, but it is a lot of work.

Thanks Guys for the information,

its just i would like to work it all out before i go seeing my mate MR BANK :P

So this information is good, i'll have to chase up this other fella about his Stagea.

Regards,

Ashley Neal.

Hey Ashley

I import cars from Japan as a hobby mainly for mates and own both an auto and manual stagea.

The manuals were only built in the facelift models and will cost you probably 38K upwards when eligible to be complied.

All the first series cars were auts and the conversion can be done.

I have one for sale now and have had my mechanic look at it to do a manual conversion.

This will be the cheapest option as the 96 cars and significantly cheaper.

The facelift model in manual also has the neo-25 engine hence the extra expense.

If you are intersted in my car then I can also help you source the correct dash and gear shroud from Japan etc.

Michael

We are building kits of parts required to convert the auto to manual using R33 parts, relocating the brake release, factory NISSAN bits to modify tunnel, ecu swap and so on for another RAWS workshop.

Not to hard a job if you know what you are doing (I know what to do but paying somebody else so no stuff ups).

I will post part numbers and photos when all sorted.

    • With the system, once you drive it for a bit, and before you turn the car off, does the car fix its date and time? When you say the date is wrong, what date does the vehicle think it is, and does it always show the same date? My thoughts from a process driven view is; The system may be defaulting to a standard start date/time. The main reason you'd typically see this occuring, is the system is losing its constant/backup power supply.   If its always defaulting to the same date/time at start up, and especially if it fixes itself while driving, I'd say either the non volatile memory has an issue, or the power supply to the volatile memory that stores this information.   The other thing I'd check is if there is anywhere in the system you can adjust the date and time from. If the date/time is still moving forward since it wished you happy new year, then it is 100% possible the system has just had a bit of data corruption occur, and you likely need to find a way to reset the date/time in the vehicle.
    • Scissor Jacks are an accident waiting to happen, the only time they should be used are in an roadside flat, even then a tyre and rim should be placed underneath
    • You know how your car rolled through a fence in your last jacking escapade? Scissor jacks increase the likely hood of that sort of thing happening immensely!

    • Just trying to get my head around this. At 5psi of boost, you turn on your wmi pump, and then you're using a 3000cc injector, to allow flow upto the actual engine, where you have your 6x200cc injectors and a 500cc injector. If the above is correct, what advantage are you obtaining by having the 3000cc injector blocking flow, is this just incase a line breaks between that injector and the motor you can stop flow immediately? Or are the 6x200cc and 500cc less injectors and just spray nozzle?
