V36 Stop/Start Button Issue

Hi Guys,

I have done some searching but cannot find anything relating to this.

I recently took the dash apart to install a Wifi Miracast device so I can see what was on my phone on my screen in the car, I got this working perfectly however upon re-connecting the battery and starting the car I can no longer just press the Stop / Start button to turn the car off like it always did in the past. I have to hold the button down 2 seconds for it to turn off.

Does anyone know why this is occurring and how to fix it?

Note also: When I press the button like I used the dash dims and goes off for a second then comes back on and the ends revs drop also and come back up like it tried to turn off.

PS:I'll write a article on the miracast device setup as there is no mention on here of these devices and how t set them up, there really is no need to get a new system installed to get it in english just use our phones that have everything on them GPS,Music streaming, videos etc.

Why did you take the dash apart? You've got so much room in the centre console's internals to install that device and it's so much easier to access.

Think back to what you pulled apart with your dash and retrace your steps. Go through each device one by one. If your dash lights are dimming when you press the button and whatnot, try checking your power wiring for your Miracast box. You may have derived your power mistakenly from a dash circuit that you shouldn't have, particularly your grounding if you just got it off something you thought was a negative wire but is in fact a drain wire through another device rather than direct to the vehicle's chassis.

    • I always wondered how you were supposed to buy a set of 24 buckets and somehow magically have every single one of them yield exactly the desired clearance. I would have thought you'd need to assemble a cam with either 12 "sample" or "example" buckets of known top thickness (or a single such sample/example 12 times over!!) measure clearances at every valve, and then do the usual math to work out what the actual "shimness" of each bucket needed to be, before buying the required buckets to make up he thicknesses that you didn't have on hand.
    • I now seem to be limited in power due to my rev limit/hydraulic lifters in my built RB25. I'm looking into converting over to Tomei solid lifters. Question for anyone that has done the conversion. I was always under the impression that when using the Tomei solid lifter conversion, you would also require new valves (Longer or shorter stems, I can't remember which).  I don't know where I got this idea, as so far I see no mention of this in any of the Tomei documentation. It just states I need the Tomei solid buckets, solid lifter cams and upgraded springs. As my head is already built, all I would need is another set of 1000$ Kelford cams, 500$ buckets and about 4H hours of my time installing and I'm off to the races!?!? There's no way it's that simple, I must be missing something?
