Just got off phone from NISSAN, 93-2/96 was a option on Turbo coupe.

Now we are talking Turbo and we are talking coupe.

2/96-end of production ABS is standard equip.

information taken from Nissan Japan spare parts computer

Now I have only seen turbo coupes 2/96 with ABS. never without.

I only go by official nissan information, and thats what I pass on to the people on this forum.

I do not listen to anybody at auctions or brokers in Japan, in fact I don't buy from them, I don't trust any of them

I think you could both be right.

I had a look on the http://imports.motortraders.net.au/ site (formerly japimportcar.com) and it lists two model variants for series 2 r33 gts25ts (manual, coupe). The first 1996-1997 has ABS as an option, and the second 1997-1998 has ABS as standard.

So it could be that only the late model series 2 have ABS standard and the earlier series 2 ones don't.

I guess I have to repeat what I said.

ALL MY INFORMATION IS FROM NISSAN

they are the people that build the cars we are talking about.

I don't think japimportcar.com would know more than NISSAN JAPAN. in fact I don't think anybody would no more than them!!!

If it doesn't have ABS and the build date is later than 2/96 then its NOT ORIGINAL. (FACT)

If you disagree then ring Nissan Japan.

Sure MR-GTR.. but the person who you spoke to at Nissan did not build the cars.. perhaps he just looked up the one model variant (later series 2) and gave you that info.

How do you suggest that there are so many series 2's without ABS? Are people removing it or what?

I hardly think 50% of them have gone out and done a series 2 conversion on their series 1 .. and changed the interior too? =)

I know all GTS-4 has ABS on them...

I should count my self lucky...

I thought ABS was factory option to all series II! .. I guess not:rolleyes:

anyway Just becareful on the road and hope you dont have to use ABS...

maybe ABS is good thing to have BUT it can be really annoying on the track...

cheers

Joe

ok people, the truth has come out, I've got the original skyline series II japanese catalogue right here in front of me and its says quite clearly (well its in japanese but you could work out) that the gts25t type M with active LSD (which is a seperate model by itself) and the gts-4 are the only ones with standard ABS. the rest which include the type M specII and the spec I and all the nonturbo versions have it as an option

I guess the guy at Nissan is a idiot, I was unlucky to get such an incompitant fool, I will get him to ring you for any information he needs. or maybe he can call your suppliers direct, it will make it so easy for Nissan japan to source such accurate information ,

I am sorry to have questioned your experience in Skylines.

Can your suppliers get me some of these genuine cars too, all these years Ive been relying on Nissan , I should have listened to all those aussie, kiwi, canadian, paki, indian, and shri lankin car brokers living in Japan, all hanging around the scrap yards and auctions, Over the past 9 years I've lost so many honest genuine deals. I should have just purchased over the net like most here,

I'm crushed , I won't sleep tonight.

Well I've been back to Nissan again, series 2 was released in Oct 95 officially, as from 2/96 all series 2 33 turbo skylines were fitted standard with ABS.

Prior to 2/96 it was a option on all 33 version cars.

like I said from my first input on this

from 2/96 all 33 skylines were fitted with ABS, the brochure was printed prior to 2/96. this is official from Nissan

Yes your correct I suppose, it was you instant who said 33 all had ABS standard, I agree with you as I personally have never seen a Turbo series 2 without ABS, I contacted Nissan to find out the truth from them , I guess some people don't want to find the truth.

But this I do know for sure !!!!! there are a lot of non genuine supposibly "genuine" cars out there, give me your chassis no and model number and I'll find the truth for you. IF YOUR NOT AFFRAID OF THE TRUTH. I can also find how many owners its had and where it was sold and where it lived in japan , also 80% of Skyline imports are purchased from the "accident repair section" of the auctions.

in the end I guess as long as your happy with it then thats what counts.

    • Yes the gear for the R33/34 is different, it is red and has a different number of teeth. My part didn't come with that gear though, so I don't know how many teeth are on the red one. You'd have to reuse the 260RS/R33 gear, as long as it's not destroyed.   Haha, as unfortunate as that might be it was working fine for about the first 1500km I've had the car for now.
    • Update all   thanks to the workshop manual, it lead me back to checking fuses as mentioned central locking and door open lights worked when acc was switched on. diagram attached shows two points of power 1. ACC and 2.  Batt with the later being fused (#28) I did check the fuses using a multimeter but I must have stuffed that up also. Went back and checked the batt fuse in interior fuse box and you wouldn’t believe it… a blown fuse. replaced fuse and everything is now working as it should including the climate control   thank you all with your positive insight and knowledge.
    • Where is the warning "That this thread is super old"   I just went into a 5 year old thread, went to do a reply, and couldn't see anywhere obvious a warning of it being super old
    • Duncan is correct. Pitwork (and Toyota's own cheap brand "Drive Joy") were primarily created as brands to sell other manufacturers car parts. It would be weird if Nissan sold parts for Toyota vehicles with a Nissan logo on it, so they created Pitwork to sell parts for other brans Toyota, Honda etc. They are not the same as Nissan genuine parts, although they *do* meet Nissan's standards for replacement parts. They aren't supposed to be a substitute for genuine parts, but a cheaper alternative that is better than Ebay fake parts from you-know-where.
