Recaro seat refresh - places in Brisbane?

Hi guys,

my Recaro drivers' seat needs a refresh - foam has collapsed on the door side where you get in/out.

Any suggestions for Brisbane based companies that could restore my Recaro seat?

cheers

Also interested in upholstery recommendations. You might have more luck on the FB group as not many people frequent here unfortunately.

Hi Cadmoon,

advice from the Melbourne based IdealSeat Company - agents for Recaro in Australia - is that they can supply replacement parts for Recaro seats (depending on model).

I sent them photos of my Recaro seat, and they replied that the replacement part for my seat (door side where you get in/out) was $90 plus delivery, and that any Motor Trimmer could fit it.

I've spoken to several Brisbane based motor trimmers since then with various responses - the best was, "if you remove the seat and provide the replacement foam it will cost $90 to replace it".

Approx $200 to fix is fine by me if it's done right - I'll let you know the outcome once it's done.

cheers

Got the piece from Idealseat and had it fitted by Archerfield Auto and Marine Upholsterers

Cost $100 to fit, and $103 delivered for the piece from Idealseat.

Nice work - you can't tell it's not original.

I've no idea what a Recaro costs (mine came with my car) - but $203 for a good repair avoids more landfill.

cheers

Might check out Marine Upholsterers for an unrelated seat refurbishment. Always good to hear a positive review

they did good work for me and reasonably priced - I will go back there again for further work I need.

cheers

    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
